Morgan wants Lobo

In our LOBO edition of Cast This, one of the first actors you guys chose was Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Well, it looks like he wants it too.

The guys over at SuperHeroHype caught up with Dean on the set of THE LOSERS and he told them of his interest in the character, “They’re making ‘Lobo’ right now. That would be cool. ‘Lobo’ would be very cool. I don’t think that I’m as big as Lobo is, but if you could, like, transplant Mickey Rourke’s body on my head, that would be just great.” Nice. Rourke would be an excellent choice, but is he too old for intergalactic bounty hunter biker?

Nevertheless, Morgan still realizes that doing LOBO would be a good option for him as well as a fun one, “You’re always looking for material that’s kind of smart and fun and this seems to be where it is right now. The studios are really gravitating towards it, more than I’ve ever seen them gravitate towards anything in a long time. Comic books are really the thing right now and I don’t see that going away for at least the next couple of years.” This is especially true now with the Disney Marvel team up as well as the WB’s DC Entertainment.

I’m pretty much in the general opinion that if Dean doesn’t play it that Rourke or Kevin Durand would be an excellent choice. You guys also suggested Mark Strong, which is an interesting idea to say the least. Our favorite comedian says that he might have a connection to get him closer to the part, “I do have an in. I’ll be elbowing somebody soon.” He must be talking about the two producers from LOSERS, Joel Silver and Akiva Goldsman as they are also producing LOBO. I wonder if his “in” will workout.
