Motion poster arrives for X-Men: Apocalypse; first trailer to hit tomorrow

12.10.2015

Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac), the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel's X-Men universe, awakens after thousands of years to find that he's disillusioned with the world. Recruiting a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Apocalypse aims to cleanse mankind and create a new world order. As you can imagine, this doesn't sit well with Prof. X and the gang, so they decide to step up to their most deadly foe yet. If you want a taste of what's to come, the first trailer will hit tomorrow, but we have a nifty motion poster to tide you over in the meantime.

Despite enjoying Singer's X-MEN flicks, the pictures we've all seen of Apocalypse have me more on the "worried" side. Still, I'm not going to write the picture off just yet, as I'm hoping the man will look a lot better in motion. After all, no one thought much of Quicksilver before he ended up stealing the show in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST.

Check back here tomorrow for the new trailer for X-MEN: APOCALYPSE, which hits theaters on May 27, 2016.

One of the biggest problems with ALL comic book movies, no matter the studio, are the villains. Off the top of my head, the only villains I can really think of that have been in more than one movie, and not recast (joker/sabertooth) are Magneto and Loki, and both kind of play heroes at times. One of the biggest problems with ALL comic book movies, no matter the studio, are the villains. Off the top of my head, the only villains I can really think of that have been in more than one movie, and not recast (joker/sabertooth) are Magneto and Loki, and both kind of play heroes at times. This is a huge problem with this Xmen movie because this villain is such an incredibly powerful villain - perhaps the most powerful mutant villain? He's a constant threat in the comics, even if it's a teenaged clone of him. This is not specific to this X-Men film, or the entire franchise as I'd say it's maybe done the best with villains of all comic book film franchises, but if the Xmen can defeat Apocalypse in one film, who really cares about the next villain? Are they really going to be worried about the next person they face? And how many villains do they have left? I can't think of many more that Fox has rights too. I understand these films need a big fight in act 3 and the heroes need to win somehow, but I just wish they could figure out a way to not do it with villains of the week. Disneys Marvel movies have burned through a bunch of really good villains (Red Skull, Ronan, Thor 2 guy, Abomination, Mandarin, ULTRON) and I just wish more time would be devoted on all the villains and their arcs, sketching out their long term stories, especially in these franchises and CU's. Especially organizations like Hydra and AIM. I know there are lots of factors that contribute to this problem (actor's availability, and that each new movie needs to be bigger than the last) and I don't really have a specific answer that'll fix it, but they are going to burn through their villains super quick, and the movies just won't have much at stake. Is having the villain sent to prison and eventually break, or get broken out, the only way to undo this? When you beat thanos and galactic and doomsday, what are you worried about really? So I guess smaller scale movies would be better, and the X films have done alright with that. And in these universes where the heroes learn about each other and team up, the villains most definitely would too. I'm actually way more excited about all the villains the MCU has access to now with the Sony/Spidey deal than just getting to see Spidey on the team. Spidey prolly has the 2nd best villains for a single hero, behind batman. And I know we've seen enough of Norman Osbourne, and they don't have to bring him in asap, but I hope we get the Norman Osbourne big time president character from the comics who is a constant menace rather than how villains were handled with the pre-nolan batman films. Hell, even the Nolan films to an extent, as they could have at least used two face more. I'm looking forward to this film, and I'm a fan of all these films to some degree, but they are constantly mishandling villains and then getting rid of them. I mean, where will the avengers go after the infinity gauntlet? Just reboot everything? The only thing I can think of is more movies, ironically enough like ant man, or even DOFP, where the heroes don't have to stop the nuclear bomb that'll end the world, and it's more of the hero going just going up against a different set of ideas, not necessarily evil. Magneto and Loki are so great bc they aren't bad just to be bad, and having more "villains" hit that grey area as far as motivation goes would help keep them around longer. Perhaps even start switching to heroes and such. Winter Soldier, and hopefully Civil War, are examples. As forgettable as the villains were in antman and wolverine 2, at least those stories were of a smaller scale. Thoughts or suggestions?

Dude, I really want to read this but PARAGRAPHS please. I'll cut and paste it into my own notepad and read it with paragraphs but some advice for your future movie blogging - Paragraph formatted writing is more inviting to read than a giant chunk of text(that people mostly ignore). Unless you are just venting for your own sake and don't care if people read it (which I would wonder why you'd post it on an online public forum), break it up into readable sections. Good luck.

Can't wait. Hope it's just as good as the Civil War, and Dawn of Justice trailers.
