MTV gives a new glimpse of its Scream: The Series killer

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Last Friday, we got our first good look at the mask that will be worn by the killer in MTV's television series expansion of the SCREAM franchise. Teasing that "something's coming" today, the channel has now given us a very quick look at the killer slashing away in a two second gif.

I can't say I'm sold on this mask just yet. The decision not to use the traditional, iconic image of Ghostface for the series seems a silly one to me. So far, the shots of the mask are reminding me more of BLOODY MURDER 2 than SCREAM, but I'm giving it a fair chance, and I'm still interested in seeing what this series is going to be like.

The synopsis:

What starts as a YouTube video going viral, soon leads to problems for the teenagers of Lakewood and serves as the catalyst for a murder that opens up a window to the town's troubled past. Everyone has secrets. Everyone tells lies. Everyone is fair game.

With a pilot directed by FOR A GOOD TIME CALL's Jamie Travis and a cast including Willa Fitzgerald, Bex Taylor-Klaus, Carlson Young, John Karna, Bobby Campo, Tracy Middendorf, and Bella Thorne, SCREAM: THE SERIES will premiere on MTV on June 30th. And something's coming later today.
