Natalie Portman picks her first post-maternity leave movies to be with Terrence Malick
Ever since the promotional tour for BLACK SWAN wound down star Natalie Portman has been on a maternity leave of sorts, focusing on being a mother rather than stunning us with her beauty and/or acting. But that fact is about to change as Portman has signed on to not just one, but two new movies. Both films are written and directed by Terrence Malick (THE TREE OF LIFE), with the first being KNIGHT OF CUPS (Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, and Isabel Lucas) and the second being LAWLESS (Ryan Gosling, Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, and Rooney Mara). The first has a planned start date of the summer while the second hopes to shoot in the fall, so Portman is coming back in a big way with what will surely be an intensive schedule compounded by Malick's notorious work/editing ethic. Both films will be at the European Film Market tomorrow, and Portman's Oscar-winning presence will no doubt do Malick a favor or two.
This is normally where I'd drop a plot recap for you, but because this is Terrence Malick we're talking about I haven't the slightest inkling as the plot of either movie. Considering how much he changes things in the editing room, I doubt he really knows right now either. And that's okay.
In other news, I've been waiting to run a Natalie Portman article for weeks just to be able to find you all some pictures like this. And so here's what I've got:
|Extra Tidbit:||Portman is a dual citizen of the United States and Israel. And, of course, I want to hear your pick for favorite Natalie Portman role. I still say Leon: The Professional.|
