Natalie Portman will blow your head off in new trailer for Jane Got A Gun

It feels like far too long since we've seen Natalie Portman. In fact, it's been two years since THOR: THE DARK WORLD, her last major release, which, in Hollywood time, might as well be forever. I must say that I've missed her quite a bit, and I've glad she'll be rejoining our movie civilization at the beginning of 2016 with JANE GOT A GUN.

For a script that once appeared on the Black List (in 2011), the project certainly had a rocky road to overcome in getting made, suffering through one cast/crew departure after another until it finally settled down. And now we've been getting peeks here and there at Gavin O'Connor's film set for a January release via The Weinstein Company.

This latest trailer is a bit on the strange side, as it has that feel of something you'd skip through on a Blu-ray on your path to watching the movie you really want to see on the disc. That doesn't mean there isn't an entertaining film here, but the way it's being sold certainly isn't doing it any favors for finding an audience.

JANE GOT A GUN takes aim at the box office on January 29, 2016.

Very weird trailer but I think it looks good. Odd music for a western too. If my eyes were closed I'd have thought that was Neeson running around Europe shooting people and jumping through turnstiles.

I'm at the point where I might watch anything with Ewan McGregor just to see him. Joel Edgerton is closing in on being another. But everything that's been written above and below is true about how the movie looks. Except for that one night-time scene that actually betrayed a certain foreboding, it can't escape feeling kind of cheap.

Not really sure why

You've got a movie with Natalie Portman, Ewan McGregor, Joel Edgerton, the underrated Noah Emmerich and directed by Gavin O'Connor (Warrior was fantastic) and you sell this movie like a cheap straight to DVT flick. I know about the early production problems with the cast being a fucking revolving door to the point where this movie could be a mess. I'm hoping that it isn't (I'm a sucker for a western) but the studio obviously isn't holding out too much given the cheap ass marketing campaign.

Although of course it is the Weinsteins, notorious for just dumping a movie without a solid marketing campaign and then they wonder why their movies tank. They can have a fucking masterpiece on their hands which is clearly deserving of much more attention and they'll completely screw up the release.
