Nathan Fillion and Linda Cardellini are 'Super'

While fan fave Nathan Fillion has previously stated a desire to grab a superhero movie of his own, ol' Captain Tightpants/Hammer will have to settle for being in someone else's.

Fillion has a part in the black comedy SUPER from writer-director James Gunn, who gave him the sheriff badge in the wonderfully gooey SLITHER.

Speaking of which, Gunn has also recruited that sticky flick's great co-stars Michael Rooker and Gregg Henry for roles in his currently filming mega-violent satire. And to offset all that testosterone, Gunn also brought in extra eye candy with the lovely Linda Cardellini (SCOOBY DOO, which Gunn also wrote).

Gunn has also handed work to his bro Sean Gunn, Stephen Blackeheart, Mikaela Hoover, Lloyd Kaufman, Valentine Miele, Andre Royo ("The Wire") and Steve Agee ("The Sarah Silverman Show").

So what's SUPER about? Rainn Wilson plays Frank, a seemingly average Joe who is madly in love with his troubled wife Sarah (Liv Tyler). But when Sarah leaves Frank for Jacques (Kevin Bacon), a smooth-talking drug dealer, Frank transforms into pseudo superhero The Crimson Bolt, stakes out Jacques sleazy hideaway, and wages a one-man war on crime. What he lacks in superpowers, he makes up for with a trusty pipe wrench. Every superhero needs a sidekick and so enters Libby (Ellen Page), a cute sociopathic teen working at the local comic book store, who morphs into ‘Boltie’ and teams with Frank to take Jacques down.

Extra Tidbit: I'll be the odd man out and proclaim that I'm already looking forward to this more than KICK-ASS.
