Neil Marshall says he would love to direct a Black Widow movie

08.26.2014

If a Black Widow movie is going to happen, there's one person who would definitely be up for directing the Marvel film: Neil Marshall. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Marshall was asked if he would want to direct BLACK WIDOW, after talking about how he's interested in movies with characters like Scarlett Johansson's in LUCY.

I would love to do a Black Widow movie. That’s perfect, I would love to do that. That character is really interesting, she doesn’t have any superpowers, she just has extraordinary skills, and the world that she comes from, being this ex-K.G.B. assassin, I find that really fascinating, yeah.

I think Neil Marshall would be great for a Black Widow flick, but obviously this is just him saying he'd like to direct the movie. And although Marvel might be interested in doing a solo film, it appears they're a little busy right now developing movies for their other comic book characters. Maybe once Marvel has decided to move forward with the project, they'll give Marshall a call. Do you think the DOOMSDAY and Game of Thrones director is a good fit for BLACK WIDOW?

Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow can be seen next in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON on May 1, 2015.

A Black Widow/Winter Soldier team up movie would be awesome, as they were a couple in the comics.

As sick as I am of Marvel films, I would love to see The Descent director get this

Do not forget that Neil Marshall was also the director of perhaps the best horror film of the 2000's. I'm talking about The Descent of course! A film with a female cast who kicked ass while intelligently tell a story with depth and character, and while being terrifying as hell! Give it to Neil!

Marshall is capable of good work, but Doomsday wasn't it. Poor film.
I'm still dubious about the value of a Black Widow solo movie. Yes it's Scarlett Johannson and she's popular, but purely as a character I don't see what Black Widow really has to offer in a lead role that we haven't seen a bunch of times before. In the end, if it happens, it'll come down to how compelling a villain they can work into a plot, and if Widow's working with other heroes. It has to be one of the least necessary

Neil Marshall should be allowed to do whatever Neil Marshall wants to do.

Not Sure........

Hawkeye and Black widow are one of those characters who are cooler as supportin cast.Much like Wolverine, Hulk and Bobofett. They are smaller part of a bigger story. The thing that makes them cool are their mysterious past

After the success of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and how well Whedon writes female characters, he would be my top director for a solo Black Widow film.

But if Neil Marshall were to actually direct, I would have no problem with it either.

Go big or go home: Joss Whedon

The guy made his career directing strong female leads, and we already know he can direct a blockbuster.

Clark Gregg

Call the movie S.H.I.E.L.D. and have Clark Gregg direct. The man who plays the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. on TV can actually be the director of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Or have the Russo brothers come back for a third movie.

I don't really care who directs it as long as Scarlett finally gets her own film in this franchise. How is it possible that Chris Evans will have three films before Scarlett even has one?

Becaus Chris Evans is playing Captain America. You know, the LEADER of the Avengers. I think his character has more priority then Johansson's Black Widow.
