After 14 years, the world will finally be a better place as Netflix is officially going ahead with the sequel series to WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER. To make things even better, the entire cast will be returning with filming beginning this week.

In case you aren't familiar with WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER's awesome cast, it includes Elizabeth Banks, H. Jon Benjamin, Michael Ian Black, Bradley Cooper, Judah Friedlander, Janeane Garofalo, Nina Hellman, Ken Marino, Zak Orth, David Hyde Pierce, Joe LoTruglio, Christopher Meloni, A.D. Miles, Marguerite Moreau, Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Marisa Ryan, Molly Shannon, Michael Showalter and Kevin Sussman. Yeah, all of those actors are back for the sequel series. Michael Showalter and David Wain developed the Netflix series and Wain will direct.

Plot details have not been revealed, but rumors have suggested the film could be a prequel set before the 1981 timeframe of the movie. The movie gained a lot of humor with the 20 and 30 year old actors playing teenagers. Having them now in their 30s and 40s playing younger teens would be even funnier. WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER remains one of my favorite comedies of the last twenty years and I am very excited to see how this turns out.

WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER will likely debut sometime later this year.

For the fact alone that relatively new Hollywood superstar Bradley Cooper is returning to his roots makes me love him that much more, if it was at all possible. He played one of the first gay guys I'd seen in a film, meant for a mainstream audience, that was just who he was. It felt unapologetic and hilarious and authentic to the story. Never THE joke, but part of the heart of the film. It was so shocking at the time that it became funny, but it was important. I've been a fan ever since.

Fuck yes! There was so much talent in the first one, they could do comedy gold even if only an eighth of the original cast rerurned.

I hope Theodore Shapiro and Craig Wedren write some new tunes for this.

Show me the fever, into the fire, taking it higher and higher!

This is the best entertainment news I have seen all week. This has to be one of the most underrated and underseen comedies ever.

Can't wait

Hope it isn't shot like Arrested Development season 4 due to actor's schedules.

Crazy that they got everyone back together for his series, especially Bradley cooper. I didn't really view the movie as older actors playing teens, so that part of it doesn't do anything for me as far as the comedy is concerned

I had completely forgotten that H. Jon Benjamin was the voice of the can of mixed vegetables that talks to Gene the cook.

Awesome. Wet Hot American Summer is one of my favorite films of all time and severely underrated and seeing how far the cast has gone from the film to now (especially Cooper, Meloni, Rudd, and Poehler) is one of the best parts about revisiting the film. Excited that the series was able to get the entire film cast back considering it wouldn't work otherwise if they hadn't.
