If you were somehow worried that Ridley Scott's ALIEN: COVENANT wouldn't feature the customary H.R. Giger-style creepy hallway, you're about to be very relieved. The past week has seen the release of several new images from the upcoming PROMETHEUS sequel, including Katherine Waterston as Daniels and two mysterious images of stasis pods as well as commandos moving out through some long grass. The latter images were both accompanied by a string of numbers, and this newest image of a spooky yet familiar hallway does as well. Whatever does it mean?!

The official synopsis for ALIEN: COVENANT:

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS -- and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world -- whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

ALIEN: COVENANT is set for a May 19, 2017 release.

I'm intrigued

Aside from the medpod scene and the goofball scientists getting lost in the Engineer ship, I liked Prometheus. Aliens is my favorite movie of all time, so I certainly won't say no to a new entry in the series.

I'm curious about the timeline

Would be cool if Daniels is actually Ripley's daughter and that she has been searching for her mother for years. Prometheus was one big missed opportunity, it should have been more like this and not so pretentious.

I think this is still prior to Alien. While we may get a connection to characters from the other films, we won't see Amanda Ripley in this movie.

What makes me happier with the approach to this film as opposed to Prometheus is the embracing of the alien connection. That should have always been the priority of Prometheus. If they wanted to explore anything else afterwards, then have at it, but the prequel most of us alien fans wanted with the answers we were promised never arrived. Even disregarding my dislike to their approach, Prometheus is still a deeply flawed and confused film without a single character to relate to or sympathize

He's best when he sticks to content or approaches that are simple, yet complex in the way they're executed. That's what the original Alien was, the A plus version of the old B minus dark house movie.

Scott has been so hit-or-miss for the last 15 years or so that it's hard to get excited for any project he's attached to. The Martian was good, but Prometheus was poorly put together, The Counselor was one of the worst movies in recent years, Exodus was insulting, and anything else is almost a complete blur. From what we've seen thus far, it seems he's on the right track but who knows.

Really hoping that this film lives up to its hype. Loved the first one despite its flaws and am really excited to see where they and how far they take the story this time and what kind of action they'll have for the Xenomorphs this time around.
