New Cheap Thrills posters and VOD, theatrical dates

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

One film we've been super-stoked to check out is E.L. Katz's CHEAP THRILLS, which looks to be a mean-spirited good time with some dark humor thrown in for good measure. You may remember that the festival hit was acquired by Drafthouse Films back in March of last year, and today we have word on when you can finally check this demented-looking thriller out as well as two new posters that tell us "What doesn't kill you makes you richer". If that was truly the case then I'd be a millionaire by now, but hey, I'll roll with it!

Drafthouse Films has announced that they will be bringing you the festival hit even sooner than you might think: CHEAP THRILLS will be available exclusively on the Movies On Demand platform of Time Warner Cable, Comcast, Cox Communications and Bright House Networks on February 21. It will be in select theaters and digital VOD platforms on March 21. Right on!

Starring Pat Healy, Ethan Embry, Sara Paxton and David Koechner, CHEAP THRILLS goes like this:

Cheap Thrills follows Craig (Pat Healy, Compliance), a struggling family man who loses his low-wage job and is threatened with eviction. In an effort to delay facing the music at home, he heads to a local bar and encounters an old friend (Ethan Embry, Empire Records). The two friends are roped into a round of drinks by a charismatic and obscenely wealthy stranger (David Koechner, Anchorman 2) along with his mysterious wife (Sara Paxton, The Inkeepers). The couple engages the two friends in a series of innocent dares in exchange for money over the course of the evening, with each challenge upping the ante in both reward and boundaries. It seems like easy and much needed money, but the couple's twisted sense of humor pushes just how far Craig and his friend are willing to go for money and cheap thrills.
