New clip from Mark Romanek’s Never Let Me Go hits the web

Kazuo Ishiguro’s novel Never Let Me Go is one I’ve been itching to read for a long time, but now more than ever in the wake of finally seeing some material from the Mark Romanek-directed/Alex Garland-scripted adaptation.

I feel that the less I say about the film, the better. The sci-fi love story doesn’t particularly make its sci-fi elements a focal point, but instead focuses more directly on character and relationships. It’s supposed to be weighty, dramatic stuff… which is just my cup of tea.

NEVER LET ME GO will premiere this month at the Toronto International Film Festival and open in limited release on September 15th.

Synopsis: Kathy (Carey Mulligan), Tommy (Andrew Garfield) and Ruth (Keira Knightley) live in a world and a time that feel familiar to us, but are not quite like anything we know. They spend their childhood at Hailsham, a seemingly idyllic English boarding school. When they leave the shelter of the school and the terrible truth of their fate is revealed to them, they must also confront the deep feelings of love, jealousy and betrayal that threaten to pull them apart.
