New Ender's Game images hit the web

04.18.2012

We reported a few weeks ago that the big screen version of Orson Scott Card's ENDER'S GAME had begun production and that producer Roberto Orci would be posting images as the film progresses. In addition to that initial image of Asa Butterfield's chair, we now have some glimpses of the set itself and apparently Ender's neck.

SYNOPSIS:  In the near future, a hostile alien race (called the Formics) have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander, Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would havebeen lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Graff (Harrison Ford) and the International Military are training only the best young children to find the future Mazer. Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy, but strategically brilliant boy is pulled out of his school to join the elite. Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult war games, distinguishing himself andwinning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soon ordained by Graff as the military’s next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command School. Once there, he’s trained by Mazer Rackham, himself, to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.

That hallway/bulkhead looks very STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION to me.  But, what do you ENDER fans out there think?  Does this production live up to your imaginations?

ENDER’S GAME stars Harrison Ford, Ben Kingsley, Viola Davis, Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld and Abigail Breslin.  It opens in theaters November 1, 2013.

I'm a huge Ender's Game fan. I can't wait for the movie, but why do the studios release crappy images like this, that show nothing at all and even make you wonder if they have nothing of value to show?

Here Lie SPOILERS...

While I'm as excited as anyone else on this, the stinging feeling I get is that they will go for the kid audience and snuff out a lot of the heavy emotions or more adult themed scenes (I mean Ender kills a kid in the first scene). I'm hoping they handle it in a manner similar to Hunger Games where there is a heavy dose of violence that is implied, but not necessarily shown. Also the plot synopsis doesn't mention any of the struggles or personal issues Ender suffers through at home or in battle

I know, its the first tidbit of info we've got so I can't be so judgemental just yet.

The first two books are classic,

the last two are decent enough but that's where Orson Scott Card should have stopped.

It's too soon to say how good this will be based on 3 pictures, but I'm cautiously optimistic.

I read the book a few years ago and was impressed. I hope this turns out well. Space opere sci-fi has been a floundering genre for years. It's slowly making a comeback.

Been a while since I've read the book, but it sounds good so far. Great cast.

Wow,it's actually getting made, and apparently in a real quality way too. Now if only that make a film out of Snowcrash next...and Hyperion.
