New featurette for Lockout starring Guy Pearce and Maggie Grace

A new featurette has surfaced for MS-ONE, formerly titled LOCK OUT (or is it the other way around…let’s hope they figure it out by the film’s release in April) and it looks pretty damn sharp.

We’ve featured the trailers for the film on the site and I think it looks exceptionally promising. I love some good sci-fi, even if a little cheesy and formulaic, as long as we get some good characters, action, and futuristic gadgetry. It’s co-written and produced by Luc Besson with first-time feature co-directors James Mather and Stephen St. Leger.

The film’s synopsis goes a little like this: A man wrongly convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage against the U.S. is offered his freedom if he can rescue the president’s daughter from an outer space prison taken over by violent inmates.

Do I have to ask the question? What in the HELL is the President’s daughter doing in space to begin with? Check out the featurette below:

Guy Pearce seems to be having a blast with the role of “Snow” and it’s a damn fine thing to see. I mean, seriously, who doesn’t like Guy Pearce? Okay, I’m sure there’s someone, but for my money the guy is a sure bet in just about anything he does and it’s nice to see him doing something a little more fun and commercial than the lesser-known indies he seems to favor.

Obviously, the film could go either way, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a good time at the very least. Maggie Grace doesn’t hurt my eyeballs too bad and Peter Stormare is always a riot, especially when he’s shoving Steve Buscemi in a wood chipper. I’m down for this, even if it’s basically “Escape From Space” sans Snake Plisskin.

LOCK-OUT breaks out and starts shivin’ fools in space on April 20th, 2012.
