A new pic from Edgar Wright's THE WORLD'S END has strolled online, featuring Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Martin Freeman, Eddie Marsan, and Paddy Considine.  The film is the third part of the "Blood and Ice Cream" trilogy, which started with SHAUN OF THE DEAD and HOT FUZZ, created by the team of Wright, Frost, and Pegg.  The pic revolves around a group of mates who reunite after 20 years to take on an epic pub crawl that turns into a struggle to save humanity.  Sounds perfectly in line with what these guys have brought before and I couldn't be more excited.

THE WORLD'S END is easily one of my most anticipated pics of the year and will no doubt be a fitting finale to the trilogy, if not just a kick ass standalone film. From what we've seen thus far from the aforementioned talents involved, as well as the lovely Rosamund Pike, this one is likely to be a riot.

There goes the neighborhood:

Here's the synopsis:

In “The World’s End,” 20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hellbent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King (Simon Pegg), a 40-year-old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their hometown and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub – The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.

THE WORLD'S END starts the crawl on August 23, 2013.

Extra Tidbit: Aside from Ant-Man already being on his plate, what type of pic would you like to see Wright tackle next? I'd love to see him jump into the horror genre again myself.

I'm excited to hear the dialogue between each character. Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz had great dialogue.

One of the most highly anticipated films (for me) of the year! I love how Pegg and Frost choose to never play the same characters in this "trilogy" and switch up their roles. I am kind of worried that this movie will be overshadowed in the States by my other anticipated end of the world comedy, This is the End. Hopefully audiences will embrace both movies I'm sure they're unique and fitting for the two different teams that are involved.

That picture is fantastic. God I wish more movies would get made with good ole ensemble casting. Loved the good old days when most epic pictures had a half dozen or more major stars, not just one trying to hold up the whole picture. I know actors seem to be greedy whores these days but come on guys do one big picture get your fat stacks then actually make some for arts sake...wow what a concept. Can't wait for this flick, love Pegg with the dark hair.

Isn't it officially called the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy? Even though the majority, myself included, prefers to call it the Blood and Ice Cream trilogy.

Love these guys

Have done since Spaced, together they can do no wrong in my eyes. Loved Shaun, loved Hot Fuzz. I thought Pegg and Frost did well without Edgar in Paul, and I know Edgar did fine without those two with Scott Pilgrim (and the Ant Man footage was incredible fun)

Separately, that's a different story, Pegg has starred in a stinker or two after Shaun, but he's always been a reliable screen presence, no matter how turgid the movie surrounding him might be. He brought a watch-ability to the

Separately, that's a different story, Pegg has starred in a stinker or two after Shaun, but he's always been a reliable screen presence, no matter how turgid the movie surrounding him might be. He brought a watch-ability to the incredibly dull Run, Fatboy, Run and How to Lose Friends and Alienate People. Obviously Star Trek is good stuff, and Pegg is on fine form in the Mission Impossible movies. Some fun voice work from the Pegg/Frost combo in Tin Tin also, which was a blindingly entertaining movie. And, if anyone is looking for a decent little unknown black comedy with Pegg,, I suggest seeking out 'Big Nothing', starring him and David Schwimmer, far better then it has any right to be.

Either way this looks to be the threesome back at their combined best, I hope they don't stop these joint ventures for too long a time. Whilst it's great to see them have success separately from each other (hopefully Ant Man will be a running franchise) I'd hate to think of how much we'd be missing out on by NOT having them all together every now and then. hell even their "Don't" trailer for the Grindhouse movie was hilarious.
