New images from Guardians of the Galaxy and trailer premiere info

Feb. 17, 2014by: Alex Maidy

By now, you have probably heard the rumor of the impending premiere of the trailer for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY hitting the internet this week, and now we have the official confirmation of when we can see it along with a trio of new images from the film.

USA Today has the new details on the movie and that the trailer will premiere on Jimmy Kimmel Live tomorrow night (February 18th) at 11:35pm EST. This will be our first look at official footage from James Gunn's movie after months of bootleg Comic Con teaser footage and still images. Here's hoping it lives up to the hype. The article also shares some new details about the plot of the movie.

The movie teams five disparate personalities: Peter Quill (Pratt), aka Star-Lord, was taken from Earth as a 9-year-old, possesses a mysterious orb artifact and pilots the Milano, a muscle car of a spaceship. Gamora (Zoe Saldana) is connected to Thanos, arguably the cosmos' biggest baddie. Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista) is a muscular dude you don't want to upset. And then there are the aliens Rocket Raccoon and Groot (computer-generated characters voiced by Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel, respectively), who are best pals and potentially the biggest things to happen to pop culture since Chewbacca.

Their stories converge in the space prison Kyln. After the characters break out, they venture to Knowhere (the severed head of a celestial being that serves as a hangout for aliens) and visit the weird menagerie of the Collector (Benicio Del Toro). They also have to avoid two villains, Ronan (Lee Pace) and Nebula (Karen Gillan), who are in hot pursuit of Quill's orb, which has the power to destroy the galaxy.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is definitely drawing parallels to STAR WARS rather than other Marvel adaptations, which is a good thing. The space-set adventure is not your traditional AVENGERS-style team and shouldn't be looked at as such. I am loving what we are seeing so far and hope the movie delivers. We will find out tomorrow when the trailer hits if the anticipation is worth it, but then it will be a long wait until the movie hits theaters on August 1, 2014.

Where's the trailer? It was supposed to premiere last night on Jimmy Kimmel. Why can't I find it on this site? Please post it Joblo.com, I don't have time to aimlessly search the internet for it.

"The trailer will premiere on Jimmy Kimmel Live tomorrow night (February 18th) at 11:35pm EST."

As of your post, and my reply, that is still a moment in the future. You don't have time to search for something. You don't have time to read the article. But you have time to post.

Dunno why

but this is seriously climbing up the ranks to be my number 1 movie to see this summer. It has been at least a decade since any marvel movie has been my number 1 for a summer. Not since the days of the original xmen or spiderman. VERY Excited for this

Can I but my ticket now?!?

Photos looks great and I can't wait to see the awesomeness that will be the trailer tomorrow. And to see Rocket Racoon in action and talking. Easily my second most anticipated film after The Winter Soldier.

Damn! Andy from Parks & Rec got a lot cooler. "Someone's back from London though it's not the Queen. Someone's back from London he's not Mr. Bean". Go Chris!

I'm sure the trailer will be awesome, because they always are for these types of movies. The real question is how good will the actual movie be. I've got an open mind. I just wonder if audiences will respond to this movie. I thought John Carter was pretty good, and that didn't do to well. I can see the same thing happening with this.

I'm ready to see the trailer

I can definitely see why people would be cautious heading into this movie. I mean, Green Lantern was the last comic book movie that was given the "Space Opera" moniker, and it was shit. Plus, the clip at the end of Thor 2 did not do the movie any favors in all honesty. It looked like something straight out of a Doctor Who fan film.

However, Chris Pratt is the actor that sold me on this movie from the moment he was announced. I really think he is going to carry this movie and make it

If Disney is already attempting to try to compare it to Star Wars, it is likely because it doesn't compare and they are desperate to make the connection themselves in hope of influencing the audience's perception.

I know I'm in the minority on this...

"Their stories converge in the space prison Kyln. After the characters break out, they venture to Knowhere (the severed head of a celestial being that serves as a hangout for aliens) and visit the weird menagerie of the Collector (Benicio Del Toro). They also have to avoid two villains, Ronan (Lee Pace) and Nebula (Karen Gillan), who are in hot pursuit of Quill's orb, which has the power to destroy the galaxy."

That quote really doesn't excite me about this movie at all. I'm not a comic book

That quote really doesn't excite me about this movie at all. I'm not a comic book reader, so I have no idea why so many fans are anticipating this so much. A space hangout that's actually a severed head of some creature, ridiculously and lamely called "Knowhere", a mystical orb that can destroy the universe, a walking tree and gun-toting raccoon alien, the extremely goofy Collector we saw after Thor 2 that looked like something out of Men in Black...everything just looks and sounds so unappealing to me. I'm really hoping the trailer tomorrow changes my mind though.

I don't believe this film is anticipated because of the comic book. I've been reading comics for years and had never heard of the guardians. The film is anticipated because marvel have a solid track record lately when it comes to films and they've assembled a solid cast. Chris Pratt should be a superstar and I believe that after this film, he will be.

And don't forget about their choice in directors. James Gunn has to be the most out-of-left-field choice for any summer movie, let alone a big Marvel tent-pole release.
