New images from Robocop featuring Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, and Michael Keaton

Dec. 20, 2013by: Jesse Giroux

A few new pictures from ROBOCOP have surfaced over at Digital Spy, and while there isn't anything too exciting in the images below (RoboCop on his motorcycle, Gary Oldman and Jackie Earle Haley sitting around, Michael Keaton clapping), they do serve as a reminder that the Jose Padilha film will be rolling into theaters in the near future.

Take a look:

Plot:

In RoboCop, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Overseas, their drones have been used by the military for years - and it's meant billions for OmniCorp's bottom line. Now OmniCorp wants to bring their controversial technology to the home front, and they see a golden opportunity to do it. When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) - a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit - is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer. OmniCorp envisions a RoboCop in every city and even more billions for their shareholders, but they never counted on one thing: there is still a man inside the machine pursuing justice.

ROBOCOP isn't anywhere near the top of my list of most anticipated films of 2014, however I still think it could be an entertaining film. Will it be as awesome as the original? Doubtful, but hopefully the new movie won't be as bad as other recent remakes like TOTAL RECALL.

ROBOCOP will be released on February 12, 2014.

Oldman, Keaton, Haley, my god man this thing should be epic, then you thrown in TransformoCop and it all goes to shit. Maybe someone will release an special edition where they cut out all the robocop bits.

The silver feels more Robotic whereas the black looks like GI Joe special suits. I get that black is the new costume these days (thanks X-men) but aside from silver being closer to the original, it does look more like a robot with a man than a man with some robot parts.
Still looking forward to it though. Hope it doesn't suck.

Fuck you for taking the family-friendly reprogrammed Robocop from Robcop 2 and making a feature out of it.
Fuck you for remaking Robocop 3.
Fuck you for this feature-length TJ Laser episode.

Feels like Dredd 3D Part Deux

Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I caught Dredd on streaming and had a blast, but it's just above Punisher: War Zone on the scale of trashy to classy.

Here's hoping a solid cast can save what looks like a shiny, generic retread. Here's hoping.

That black suit looks like total shite next to the silver one. It's a sign that bad choices will be plenty in this film. I hope for the best, but expect the worst.

Having his face incased in that helmet totally sucks compared to having his skin stretched over the cyborg head from the original. This movie is really pointless.

Somehow RoboCop's prototype suit (the Silver suit) looks more practical and believable than the actual Tactical Black suit.

I feel like this film will be entertaining, but unfortunately will have no depth (ie Total Recall remake).
