New images of Optimus and Bumblebee from Transformers: Age of Extinction

May. 12, 2014by: Sean Wist

At this point, I think your mind is set on whether or not you'll be joining the Autobots on another cinematic adventure.  Michael Bay's style has been established over a myriad of action films (THE ROCK, BAD BOYS, THE ISLAND) and he seemed like the perfect fit for some machine-on-machine action.  So far, the human characters have been the biggest gripe of fans but with AGE OF EXTINCTION having a character swap, the fourth installment in the Transformers saga may be just what the doctor ordered.  Plus . . . dinobots!

Check out some of the new images (click for larger versions):

Given the box office draw of the previous three films, the Transformers are here to stay in the cinematic realm. The third film arguably had the most interesting story to tell (I preferred the first myself) but it seems director Michael Bay and writer Ehren Kruger are conscious of what fans disliked and what they crave. I'm not the biggest Transformers fan, but I'm down for a fun, summer action film and am curious to see if this will be somewhat of a reboot, or more of the same.

TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION, starring Peter Cullen (voice), Mark Wahlberg, John Goodman (voice), Ken Watanabe (voice), Stanley Tucci, Nicola Peltz, and Jack Reynor, will take over your local theaters on June 27, 2014.

Does this pose remind you of anything in particular?

I'll be checking it out. I don't know why everyone expects so much from a movie about talking alien robots that turn into cars. They are a good time.

I really don't see this turning into another trilogy, nobody gives two shits about this movie and that will show in the box office returns.

What is really obnoxious with the FX in these films is how inconsistent the robots are to their vehicle counterparts, you see all kind of battle damage (hell, look at these pics), but they turn into pristine, clean cars & trucks.

Haha, I can almost hear the Darth Vader 'NNNnooooooo!' in that Optimus pic. Seriously, this movie has had one trailer and a Super Bowl spot, that's not a good sign especially after the train wrecks of the last two.

Are people still looking forward to these movies? It's the same shit in every movie. Explosions, robots being torn apart, and saving humans. I'd like to see a different director take over the series.

Prime-toon

C'mon movie lovers, the last pic looks like Willem Dafoe when he died in Platoon. I don't know how Joblo gets Darth Vader out of this.

I'm racking my brain to figure out what that pic reminds me of. All I can come up with is a classic Wolverine pose.

As for this movie, I am so over Transformers in the hands of Michael Bay. This franchise needs fresh vision.

Optimus Prime yelling "Freeeedom!"

For a franchise I grew up watching, I can't believe how much I could careless about this film.

It's very frustrating as a TF fan. On the one hand you are getting big budget TF films with the characters you love. Only they are not characters, they are just giant robots that are overly designed.
I know everyone hates part 3, but I thought it was the best.
The action was incredible the story had more to do with the TFs - it was their leader that went rogue etc, not trying to find some glasses?
Anyway the comedy and bad characterizations (both on the TFs and human characters) really drag

The only positive is that you know you will get fantastic action scenes, and I guess for some fans that's enough.

Where have you been reading that everyone hates part 3. To my knowledge, Part 2 is hated the most. I'm not saying most people love 3, but it's not hated the way you think. I persaonally love part 3 for the same reasons you do, and also because they slowed down the transforming to benefit the 3D, and it actually helped the film because now you can see what the fuck is going on. People that hate on TRANSFORMERS stopped at 1 or 2 and never gave 3 a chance. It does'nt matter. It made the most money

Im glad - cause 3 was the best - yes slowing it down REALLY helped! And the last action scene was bloody amazing - one of the best action scenes ever!

Yeah 2 is bad (tho, again I like it better than 1) the mission of the TF is to find glasses??? That's basically the story of part one - hahahaha.
