Series creator Nic Pizzolatto crafted a hell of a first season for his crime series True Detective and staying true to his word, season 2 will present an entirely different story and feel. This time around we traverse through the landscapes of California along with three law-enforcement officers in Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch, and a career criminal in Vince Vaughn. Pizzolatto spoke up a bit regarding this second season as far as what we can expect and how it will differ from season 1. We also have some brand new posters showing off the lead characters to boot.

Nic Pizzolatto regarding any connections between the first and second seasons:

There’s no relationship between the stories or characters, which was the result of fully committing to something new, but I do think that the seasons have a deep, close bond in sensibility and vision, a similar soul, though this is a more complex world and field of characters.

On applying a more linear structure to season 2:

We were conscious of not wanting to repeat ourselves or remake the same album in a different setting, but I try to be open to whatever structure the story and characters suggest, so I never drew a line through those things. As the characters multiplied and their individual and group complications grew, a more integrated and linear structure worked best. And there was the conviction that if we were to do something entirely new, then we shouldn’t lean on past conceits, but really build from scratch.

Two Canadians, one Irishman and one American.

I don't have a point.

Season one was so great because of the originality factor and the sheer magnetism of McConaughey and Harrelson. It will be hard to top that.... looking forward to it though!

I am on the fence.

The first season worked not only because of the cast but because it had a great story, a great mystery. This season seems to be banking on its cast and so far we haven't heard crap about the story.

How are we supposed to be interested when this just looks like a basic cops and robbers show so far. Where is that mystery? Where is the plot? Why is Taylor Kitsch in this, he ruins EVERYTHING.

Your argument contradicts itself. Your asking "Where is the mystery?' and yet you also mention you know nothing of the plot... Pretty sure we all had the same amount of information over the course of the entirety of season one. Even after the first 2 or 3 episodes we had no idea where the season was headed, which is what made it so great. Be patient, I have a feeling we will not be disappointed.
