New international poster for Robin Hood might hammer you to death

03.25.2010

Everyone I'd like to show you Russell Crowe action pose #267, also known as the new international poster for ROBIN HOOD.

That crazy look in his eyes actually sort of frightens me. I feel like he's two seconds away from launching that war hammer into my face.

I'm not going to hate on this film though. It looks like it could be a pretty fun ride. It's a bonus that Cate Blanchett and Kevin Durand are in it. I also said that Kevin Durand being in LEGION automatically made it awesome...word around the street is that it's not so awesome. All that aside, I'm sure I'll still check out Ridley Scott's perspective of ROBIN HOOD.

Extra Tidbit: I just want to say that Cate Blanchett was a perfect Katherine Hepburn in THE AVIATOR.

Too bad the new PG-13 Ridley Scott will have to cut away each time the Hood uses that hammer.

I'm willing to give it a shot

At least Russell Crowe can speak with a genuine English accent.

What ever happened with that totally crazy Gladiator sequel with Maximus taking on the Gods in the afterlife? Yeah we need more inspired movies like that.

"cate blanchett was AN perfect katherine hepburn"
...i'm pretty sure it's "...was A perfect..."
anyway, this movie looks super generic and mediocre. i saw the trailer at the theatre today and couldn't get into it at all.

Crowe just seems a little too old for this. I'm still looking forward to it though. The poster on top is the better one.

Movie looks good, but...

Who's idea was it to put Robin Hood on the poster and not give him a bow and arrow? It's like making a Star Wars poster and having a jedi hold a blaster. It's just not right.

To his defense, Luke wasn't yet a Jedi in A New Hope. With that being said, Scott and his team, including the studio probably decides that steering away from the bow and arrow cliche is the best way to market the film. Plus it'll remind people of Gladiator. Just my thoughts.

Yeah, I know the original poster had Luke with a blaster, because he wasn't a Jedi yet. But my point remains the same, people associate lightsabers with jedi and the bow and arrow with Robin Hood. You take the title off the poster and people would think its Gladiator. Which isn't a bad thing in terms of marketing ideas, but makes for a rather uninspired poster.
