New international trailer for Spielberg’s Lincoln with Daniel Day Lewis will likely sell you a ticket

A new international trailer for Steven Spielberg’s LINCOLN has arrived and it’s the most compelling and engaging of all the trailers released thus far.  If you were feeling underwhelmed by what you’d seen thus far, then this trailer is probably the best chance to “sway your vote.”  It almost seems like the marketing has been riding on the names of Spielberg and Daniel Day Lewis so far, rather than attempting to sell the movie as a whole.  This trailer dives into the material more so than the names attached to it and I think it comes across as the most successful because of it.

Take a look:

In truth, I was already sold on seeing LINCOLN, being a fan of not only the filmmakers involved, but of history itself.  To see it brought to life by such talented individuals is a rare treat I wouldn’t miss.  Given the upcoming election in the U.S. right now, everyone is at least slightly more aware of all things politics, so LINCOLN is well-timed (or ill-timed) for release at this juncture.  The reviews thus far have been calling it Spielberg’s best in years and Daniel Day Lewis generates an Oscar nomination every time he appears in a film, so there’s that.

LINCOLN, starring Daniel Day Lewis, Tommy Lee Jones, Sally Field, Bryan Cranston, David Strathairn, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, John Hawkes, Bruce McGill, and Tim Blake Nelson opens on November 16, 2012.
