New international trailer for Spielberg's Lincoln with Daniel Day Lewis will likely sell you a ticket

A new international trailer for Steven Spielberg's LINCOLN has arrived and it's the most compelling and engaging of all the trailers released thus far. If you were feeling underwhelmed by what you'd seen thus far, then this trailer is probably the best chance to "sway your vote." It almost seems like the marketing has been riding on the names of Spielberg and Daniel Day Lewis so far, rather than attempting to sell the movie as a whole. This trailer dives into the material more so than the names attached to it and I think it comes across as the most successful because of it.

Take a look:

In truth, I was already sold on seeing LINCOLN, being a fan of not only the filmmakers involved, but of history itself. To see it brought to life by such talented individuals is a rare treat I wouldn't miss. Given the upcoming election in the U.S. right now, everyone is at least slightly more aware of all things politics, so LINCOLN is well-timed (or ill-timed) for release at this juncture. The reviews thus far have been calling it Spielberg's best in years and Daniel Day Lewis generates an Oscar nomination every time he appears in a film, so there's that.

LINCOLN, starring Daniel Day Lewis, Tommy Lee Jones, Sally Field, Bryan Cranston, David Strathairn, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, John Hawkes, Bruce McGill, and Tim Blake Nelson opens on November 16, 2012.

Extra Tidbit: Are you planning on seeing this in theaters? Anything keeping you from doing so?

Damn this movie looks good. I think that as a resident of Lincoln's adopted hometown it is my duty to see this potentially awesome movie.

looks like the performannce of a lifetime

Just when I thought DDL couldn't get or do any better, he seems to have lived this perfromance, looks like it will be a great kind of untold story.

So, we know who's winning Best Actor...

Seriously, this is the first non action film that nearly gave me wood. I may actually go to the theater for this film.

Okay, now I'm sold. Was afraid Spielberg would largely play it generic and safe...but that trailer makes it out to be almost a political thriller, about the gritty horse-trading politics and high-stakes dealing behind the passage of the 13th Amendment. Very excellent direction.

And yeah, seems like we can just give DDL the Oscar right now and avoid the suspense.

Hoooo boy.
This is one more movie to make me get pissed that I can't enjoy the theater experience anymore. One more movie to make me wish cellphones were banned with physical enforcement. I really want to see this movie on a giant screen in a dark room ... in PEACE; but those inconsiderate, self-absorbed assholes with their god damned flashing cellphones will never allow it.

Always a treat to watch Mr. Day Lewis in action, but not really interested in seeing this, rather read a good biography instead.
