New Japanese Trailer for Brave shares the most plot so far!

03.06.2012

I will be the first to say that I am a Pixar apologist, but can you doubt that they put quality craftsmanship up on the screen?  This latest trailer for BRAVE is in Japanese but gives us a more rounded idea of what to expect from this Medieval tale.  This does not seem to be in the realm of TANGLED but rather a more Miyazaki vein.  I am personally a fan of the Ghibli films and translating that success for American audiences has always been a pet project of Pixar CCO John Lasseter.

Check out the Japanese trailer with subtitles below:

And a little Kelly MacDonald, for good measure.

Extra Tidbit: Kelly MacDonald has come a long way since TRAINSPOTTING. Something tells me no nude scenes in BRAVE, though.

Brave has the best posters

Like Ghibli in having a female protagonist perhaps? And in being a mystical and seemingly environmental adventure? It looks so much more worthwhile than than any Disney princess-film.

Oh wow

Really Alex? You would compare this to Studio Ghibli? I would kindly ask you to try again. More like Disney is trying to market this in Japan as somehow being like a Miyazaki film, or similarly nuanced anime. Brave, on the other hand, is actually looking quite disappointingly mediocre (especially in the wake of Cars 2). Don't get me wrong, I love a good Pixar movie, but make no mistake, this is not the Pixar of yesterday, nor is it going to be anything near as well-made as a Studio Ghibli

Let's just get that straight right now. But I would add, to their credit, Disney has done a great job adapting the Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli films. I'm going to see Secret World of Arrietty tomorrow.

Obviously I havent seen the film...we're talking about perceptions and marketing here. And we all know Pixar isn't the same beast any more.
