New pics from Sofia Coppola's The Bling Ring show lots of pretty, young lawbreakers

May. 7, 2013by: Paul Shirey

Sofia Coppola is an interesting filmmaker and I wish I could say that it's because of her that I want to see THE BLING RING. However, she's just an added bonus, like "...and, it's directed by Sofia Coppola!" But, the real draw is the pretty, young creatures that inhabit it, namely Emma Watson, Taissa Farmiga, Claire Julien, and Katie Chang, who seem to embody the vapid "rich bitch" entitlement generation to a tee. When your movie is filled with villains it can be difficult to sit through, unless they're really hot villains like these. Watching them stumble down an ugly path and get their due will likely be a satisfactory journey, though, as we all know that actors tend to love playing the bad guy, because, well, it's just more fun.

Today, we have a smattering of new images from Coppola's circle of hot-looking bad guys, which shows the crew enjoying the spoils of their crime wave and also paying the penalty for it. The film has generated some decent reviews thus far, with one reviewer saying that it "...goes about its business quietly but with a tremendous purity of focus. The film casts such a lovely spell that its full force may hit only after the lights come up."

Take a look:

THE BLING RING breaks into theaters on June 14, 2013.

Also, pole dancing...

Extra Tidbit: I'm looking forward to Taissa Farmiga returning to American Horror Story, season 3. Also, just looking forward to American Horror Season 3 in general.

Hopeful for this one

Sofia Coppola's always been more about atmosphere and great performances than plot. Sometimes it works really well (VIRGIN SUICIDES, LOST IN TRANSLATION), sometimes it doesn't (SOMEWHERE). The story behind THE BLING RING has a fairly straightforward arc: I hope she's able to use that in order to eliminate what I consider to be her big weakness as a director.

No way.

You could not PAY me to watch another Sophia Copolla film. I saw Lost in translation and Marie Antoinette and they were the most boring films I have ever seen. Sophia Copolla could make a beej into something boring.
