If it's Evil Dead with the sequels' silliness sucked out of it, which is how it looks, then that kinda justifies its existence and could really shock filmgoers who aren't used to their horror being so full on. There was an air of dread and menace in the original, despite its low budget effects, that tapped into something fairly primal. If this remake's lucky, they'll recapture some of that.

It would be nice to think he did Oz to win back some big studio cred and that it will do well enough for him to be allowed to try something different, but I don't know if it'll be that big a hit. Personally I think he could do a really messed up time travel movie - we saw aspects of it in Army of Darkness, especially the alternate ending. I think he has Gilliam levels of craziness in him if he could find the right project.

Loved Evil Dead of course and can't wait for this movie...besides that I've never been a Sam Raimi fan. He's got a few things out but I think he still needs to keep plugging away at movies to really know what his niche is. Maybe he doesn't have one IDK.

This is tough, on the one hand, looks good, on the other, why remake it and not make a sequel. If you call it something else ppl will be pissed, if you remake it ppl will be pissed - so i guess the only answer is dont remake it and make a sequel or dont do anything and make a new movie. I'm for sequel or new movie myself, but damn, this still looks good. Oh well, there goes my 10 bucks.

Didn't they already remake the Evil Dead, it was called Evil Dead 2. Or I think he should do a sequel to Drag Me To Hell, in the vein of Army of Darkness called Drag Me From Hell. It could have Justin Long going into hell to save his fiance. That would be good.

This is NOT Sam Raimi's Evil Dead...

This is Fede Alvarez and Diably Cody's Evil Dead... Sam Raimi and Bruce Campell are just making money by attaching their names. Also, why are people so anxious for a shitty remake? So they are making Evil Dead meets Hostile, they will never capture the essence and tone of the original so this is pointless.

Im not a fan of remakes apart from a couple (cape fear, the departed) but this looks pretty good and scary. I think there woild be alot of umhappy people out there if this wasnt linked with evil dead and got released upder a different title. We would all cry ripoff together!
