New pictures of 1970s Wolverine on the set of Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past

Jun. 20, 2013by: Jesse Giroux

X-Men: Days of Future Past

Last month we got a look at some of the actors in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST wearing their 1970s style costumes, including James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Peter Dinklage, Nicholas Hoult and Hugh Jackman. MTL Blog and CBM has some new pictures of Jackman once again in his 70s attire with some vehicles from the time period, as well as an image of several random cast members also in their outfits. Doesn't it look like Hugh Jackman could be auditioning for the band Stillwater?

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST has a lot going for it but there are a ton of red flags too. It's not like I want the film to fail but I do want it to be a GOOD movie and at this point I'm more than a little concerned. Maybe director Bryan Singer and this giant cast can pull this off but if X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST is a massive misfire there's going to be a lot of upset fans out there looking to crucify someone and most of the blame will probably fall on Singer. Considering how well X-MEN: FIRST CLASS was received if Singer mucks things up it could be a big setback for the franchise. It's a huge risk and hopefully things turn out well for the film.

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST starring Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Hugh Jackman, Michael Fassbender, Ian McKellen, Jennifer Lawrence, Anna Paquin, Nicholas Hoult, Peter Dinklage, Ellen Page, Halle Berry and Shawn Ashmore will be in theaters on July 18th, 2014.

Extra Tidbit: It'd be awesome if some of the great songs from the 70s showed up in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST but if "Free Bird" starts playing I'm walking out of the f*cking theater.

What "ton of red flags"? What "huge risk"? What the hell is the author talking about?

The use of the title days of futures past is a red flag as it doesnt seem to be followingvthat story. It doesnt really work if he is linking first class as his first 2 films.
He is adding mutants who are not stvthe story id rather it was mystiqued brotherhood in the 70s like the comics.

Im guessing you have never read the comic.

But that's irrelevant, we're talking about movies. X3 was the most profitable X-Men movie, and it was crap.

I think it will be a lot of fun seeing all these different X-Men characters in a live-action film.

Singer has made 5 good movies, and only 2 bad ones. He has a very good track record, especially when it comes to X-Men films. I'm think DOFP is gonna be all kinds of awesome.

fans

Most people i talk to that know the story from the comic are worried and its mostly the fans of the movies that are generally more excited. I hope this is awesome, but i think it wont be the film xmen fans hoped to get. I dont think it will be awful probably just average. For me it seems they cant truely pull off a great days of future past because he is linking first class and the orig trilogy together, for me that doesnt work.

Still hope im wrong and its awesome.

Why are people concerned?!

The X-Men film's with Singer behind the camera were awesome! Since he left we have not gotten one good film in my opinion.

Fair enough if you didn't like First Class. But I think why everyone is being skeptical isn't so much that they don't think Singer can make a good X-Men flick, it's because he doesn't seem to have a coherent process to making this film. He's loading in so many characters for one film that it's going to be difficult to have a well rounded narrative. Plus, he's still creating and making up parts of the story as he's filming, which is apparent from the addition of Quiksilver. After two months

After two months of filming (meaning the script should be finalized) he decides there needs to be a sequence involving Quiksilver? Just seems odd.

X2 was a mess! People overlook the continuity issues and random things happening that don't jive due to the great opening sequence and addition of so many new characters. That movie blew and does not hold up well at all. Singer never should have gotten behind the camera for this film, let someone who understands action and how to flesh out a story take the chair. That being said, I will go see this but with low expectations.

Good

I like the fact that, just as the original X-Men were introduced in 1963 and the first movie was set in 1962, Wolverine originally appeared in issue #181 of the Incredible Hulk in 1974. Singer is basically establishing fifty decades of X-Men history while explaining why everyone isn't very, very old.

It would be cool too if they used this movie as a way to branch X-Men into two separate franchises. One with the original cast (with a recast for Storm) in present day, and one in the past which follows the historical changes due to mutants and the formation of the X-Men and Xavier School, etc. Gives them potential to use more characters from the comics without having to overload one movie as Singer seems so desperate to do.

Thats exactly what I think they have in store.

They have two talented casts, would be stupid to stop the franchise now or say goodbye to any of the cast, with the indredible potential the x-men universe has and all the characters they have introduced to date.

Its like they dont even need to introduce more characters in the future, but keep developing the ones they already have.

Jackman looks pretty good. I feel bad for the guy, it must be so tough having the keep up that physique for so long. He had no break in between filming Wolverine and making DOFP. And it's also nice to see that his character will at least be more than just a cameo appearance. I want my faith to be renewed in this film, after all the superhero movie duds that came out this summer, I want a good one to look forward to for next year.

I just strongly feel this needs to be broken up into two, maybe three, movies. I'm holding out hope for awesomeness, but really want them to do this justice.

wow shut up with that last paragraph

Don't tell us who the fans will probably blame everybody knows. And there are no real red flags-- X-Men movies should have a lot of mutants because THE X-MEN ARE AN ENSEMBLE. And Singer is a big part of why First Class was well-received, or did you forget him overseeing the whole production (including the script) before stepping aside for Vaughn.

wow shut up, are you on a date with singer right now? Singer made one decent film in his career and IMO it wasn't x-men. People just hold onto to it because it was one of the first moderately made super hero films (excluding batman) and fans would of taken anything at that point to see x-men on the big screen. This franchise has been crap since then, especially after the second and if any super hero movie needed a reboot its this one. I've NEVER understood the constant nut swing-ery that

No big-ass bell bottoms for Hugh Jackman? Awww . . .

Seriously, I'm hoping this flick is good. If this ends up being Jackman's last hurrah as Wolverine I want him to go out on a high note.

Wolverine definitely looks like he's in the 70's with that outfit.

I'm excited for the film. I have faith that Singer can pull this off and deliver us another good X-Men film.

I have faith in Singer's talent..... but Im really worried with Wolverine's role on this movie.

We already know that he appears on both timelines, so if this movie puts 70% of the screentime on him, Im gonna be really pissed with Singer and Fox.

He has his 2 solo movies now, so let the other characters and x-men shine! damm it
