UPDATE: New poster and international trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man

Apr. 16, 2012by: Paul Shirey

UPDATED with 2nd new poster below:

Not to be outdone by all THE AVENGERS hype, we now have a new poster and international trailer for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN to whet your comic-to-film appetite.  Starring Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Rhys Iffans as Dr. Curt Conners/The Lizard, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Sally Field as Aunt May, Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben, and Denis Leary as Capt. Stacy, the reboot of the popular franchise has been a mixed bag for fans of the character, myself included.

The recent revelations of a "revamped" origin have left some up in arms, as well as costume modifications and a so-far-unimpressive looking villain.  Still, there are many who are excited for the film and hopeful that its shortcomings will be outweighed by its strengths.

The new international trailer has a bit of new footage and lays the film out pretty well from start to finish.  For me, that's not a good thing.  Decide for yourself:

And here's two new posters:

I hate to be the ho-hum guy, but there's just nothing firing off for me with THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN.  I truly hope I eat crow and sing the praises of the film when I finally see it, but I highly doubt that will happen.  Let's hear from you guys; Is the hype building or fizzling for you?

All will be revealed when Spidey hits theaters on July 3, 2012.

I usually hate repeating myself but even after seeing the trailer with Hunger Games I still have zero interest in seeing this movie. Maybe its this marketing ploy of the untold story. I just don't understand was is untold about Parker & Spider-Man.

I still say come end of the summer this will be one of the films that people end up saying Holy Shit that was awesome!

p.s. as for tidbit.. he doesn't need a team up. I wish the character was able to show up in an Avengers sequel but that's impossible. I've always liked the New Avengers line up with Spidey and Wolverine more than the original.

Because it looks awful! Remarkably bland, with a pre-determined thing that ruins the point of Spidey.

They should have casted Donald Glover as Peter Parker/Spider-Man.

If this does well they should do Venom again the right way! I don't wanna see the actors face underneath until maybe the last five minutes of the movie! Make Venom crazy like he is in the comic!

I look forward to it! I've heard inside buzz, being an industry person myself, and it should be more than solid if you like superheroes!

Best SPIDER-MAN Movie Ever!!!

This Movie Will Be Way Better Than The New Batman Movie. My Opinion. So Far, The Trailers For Batman Suck & If You Don't Agree Then You're Lying To Yourself. There Wasn't Anything Spectacular About Those Trailers. THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN On The Other Hand Looks Simply Amazing. The Casting Is Excellent, The Special Effects Are Excellent, The Acting Is Excellent, & The Story Seems Very Well Put Together. Doubt This Movie If You Want To But It Will Be Right In Line After THE AVENGERS Which Will

1st poster looks like a video game box, second reminds me very of much of the Raimi movie's marketing. Looks pretty good though, and I'm not watching that international trailer.

saw it

at a screening. its a solid return for spidey and aimed toward the comic fans. spidey is tough, witty, and is portrayed better than ever in this film. there are a lot of little things that show the filmmakers really tried to translate spidey onto the big screen the right way. i know it doesnt seem needed, but tobey mcguire's spidey is definitely in need of a make-over, and after seeing this youll understand why they remade it.

@OCELOT. not exactly... i mean, i dont know the studio's true intentions, but they could have half-assed a Spider-Man 4 instead of rebooting. either way they would have kept the rights.

It looks like I'm the only one thats excited for this to come out. I'm not jumping for joy, but I think this looks like a solid flick. If you're putting it up to movies like Avengers, Prometheus or The Dark Knight Rises, then ya it looks like its on the lower end of the "Superhero" movie pole, but it doesn't mean it doesn't have the chance to still be good.

Eh...

This looks better than the first Spider-Man in the last series, but does still seem to lack anything amazing. I'll give it a try, but I'm not really expecting fireworks.

I'll give it a chance like everyone else, but there's nothing in the trailers and the photos that are convincing me this is a MUST SEE in theaters kind of gig. Maybe this could potentially do poorly at the box-office and Sony doesn't want to keep the franchise anymore and it goes back to Marvel in time enough for Spider-Man to make an appearance in The Avengers 2 (wishful thinking).

I just don't know..

In my opinion, too many similarities going on with this film and the previous films. That alone proves it's way too soon for a new rehash of spiderman. Especially yelling out while swinging from building to building the way Tobey did, I mean really..?

Well we might. You never know until you see TDKR. Batman may need to unmask him so that he can be defeated. He apparently needs that mask to keep him either, alive, or some other health reason.

Costume...

The costume is growing on me... The villain is not. I see this as a waste of time fighting Lizard and trying to be too emo for its own good. It seems really bland and boring.

I'll still give it a chance but after all this time

I think I've decided that it's just Too Soon and Too Similar. Yes yes, I know that it had a bunch of differences compared to the previous live action series but it obviously has a lot in common, and the Lizard thing especially rubs me the wrong way... I just think that maybe the reason I'm so 'meh' on this movie (and why so many other people are too) is because it's just simply too soon. I think they would've been better off if they did what The Incredible Hulk did to Hulk, instead of just

Honestly, I keep forgetting this is even coming out. It'll probably be the first Spidey film I don't see in a theater, unless the reviews are through the roof, there are just too many other films I want to see instead of Spidey's origin again.

I was giving it a chance in the beginning, but the more I see, the less I want to see it. I will wait for reviews. If you guys give it a 6-7, I will wait for a rental; maybe a Sunday rainy day matinee. Too many other better looking movies to spend my money on this summer. However, I do like what I see of Garfield as Parker.

So, funny story, but none of the things people are claiming as "shortcomings" bother me. I don't think the Lizard looks bad. The origins that people are up in arms about aren't new, they're just from a different run of the comic, as is the homemade webshooter. People are up in arms not because this isn't faithful, but because this isn't Sam Raimi's 'Spiderman.' Personally, I loved Raimai's first two, and I also think this looks great.
