New poster and stills from Stallone-penned Homefront starring Jason Statham and James Franco

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

The upcoming action/thriller HOMEFRONT is an intriguing prospect when you factor in all involved. For one, the film's cast is a mixed bag of interesting choices: Jason Statham, James Franco (as a meth-slinging villain!), Frank Grillo, Winona Ryder, Clancy Brown, Kate Bosworth, and Rachelle LeFevre. Second, the pic is written by none other than Sylvester Stallone, based on the novel by Chuck Logan, which is about "a former DEA agent [who] moves his family to a quiet town, where he soon tangles with a local meth druglord." And lastly, it's a theatrical release for Statham, which is few and far between these days, given the high volume of pics he puts out. Without a trailer to go off of it's impossible to get a feel for the tone of the flick, but with a new poster and stills, the picture is getting more and more clear and I'm getting more and more interested.

Here's the poster:

And, here's the stills:

As a fan of the genre and all involved in putting this together, my hope is that this will be a solid entry in the action genre for the fall, which is otherwise pretty dry. With each new movie season comes a bit of a drought for action pics and I'm going to cross my fingers for a solid show with HOMEFRONT. Statham, even when not hitting the big screen, is still Statham, which is as reliable as they come, and Franco tore it up as a "bad guy" in SPRING BREAKERS, so that alone puts this on the radar. I expect a trailer to drop soon, so we'll know more soon.

HOMEFRONT hits theaters on November 27, 2013.
