New poster for A Good Day To Die Hard with Bruce Willis and Jai Courtney is on fire

Dec. 14, 2012by: Paul Shirey

UPDATE: Den of Geek got an exclusive UK vesion of the poster, complete with a new tagline and Russian backdrop. Scroll below to check it out.

Well, I'll say this about the new poster for A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD...it doesn't have that cheesy tagline attached!  That said, it's a pretty by-the-numbers poster, complete with the new hotness that is the flame-and-cinder style that seems to cover every action movie out the gate these days.  It's not that it's not cool, it's just that it's overdone at this point.

The new film catches John McClane (Bruce Willis) chasing down his son, Jack (Jai Courtney), who is an undercover CIA agent facing a bad ass array of Russian baddies.  Always helpful when your dad shows up, especially if he's the "hero of Nakatomi."  I've said my piece on the PG-13's and lack of an inspired directing choice in the past, but I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt on this one.  I've made my peace with them never recapturing the magic of my all-time favorite movie, the original 1988 DIE HARD, so now I can move on and let the new guard roll in.

Check it out:

And here's the UK version with the new tagline:

A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD, directed by John Moore (MAX PAYNE) and starring Bruce Willis, Jai Courtney, Sebastian Koch, and Cole Hauser opens on February 14, 2013 in regular and IMAX formats.

Here's the trailer once again...

The die hard franchise

deserves better then 2 mediocre directors in a row.
Mission impossible did a smart thing by taking directors with vision and quality and keeping things fresh.
But it seems cruise is more committed to his movies then Willis who looks like he doesnt care and goes autopilot.(except for looper) Otherwise Willis would say, dont fuck with my beloved franchise, i want the best scriptwriter and director there is goddammit!

I already know the next director for a die hard movie will be Justin lin.

Sigh....now the Die Hard series solely exists so Bruce Willis can still be his usual self and have a career. If he took more chances and did stuff like Looper, he could have a great comeback! But instead he keeps playing the same character over and over in worse and worse movies. That and the unholy amount of straight to DVD movies he's done as of late!

If it doesn't go the PG-13 route and gets a more mature script with the foul mouthed non-supercop John, please.

Well..

At least the poster is a tad visually more appealing than that standard, un-inspired poster for the fourth movie. Also I'm actually kind of on board with the cheeseball, b-movie taglines these new posters are putting out.

however like the dude below me, I quite enjoyed Die Hard 4.0 but am still massively worried that John Moore is at the helm here.

I've got a bad feeling about this movie

And that's coming from a schmoe who loved Live Free or Die Hard...
Why, in the name of all that's holy, would someone hire John fucking Moore to direct Die Hard ?
Is it the last decision Tom Rothman made before leaving Fox ?
