Mother! Javier Bardem Darren Aronofsky

After watching the trailer for writer/director Darren Aronofsky's secretive psychological thriller MOTHER!, I said that I got a sort of "ROSEMARY'S BABY all grown up" feeling from the character played by Javier Bardem. The ROSEMARY'S BABY comparison seems even more appropriate now, as Paramount Pictures has released a new poster for MOTHER! with artwork that's directly inspired by the poster for Roman Polanski's horror classic.

This is all the studio is telling us about MOTHER!'s story:

A couple’s relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence.

The film stars Bardem, Jennifer Lawrence, Michelle Pfeiffer, Domhnall Gleeson, Ed Harris, and Kristen Wiig, and it's Lawrence's face that stands in for Mia Farrow's on the ROSEMARY'S BABY poster semi-recreation.

The new poster for MOTHER! can be seen below, along with the ROSEMARY'S BABY poster. Now we can only continue to ponder – is Bardem playing the Antichrist in this movie?

Paramount will be releasing MOTHER! on September 15th. They released ROSEMARY'S BABY back in 1968.
