New poster for the Straw Dogs remake is just like the original only awful

But… if the lens is broken… the reflection… what?

While this new poster for Rod Lurie’s STRAW DOGS tries to recreate the stark and perfect imagery of the one sheet for Sam Peckinpah’s masterful original (which you can see below), it fails by being a boring imitation with the audacity to shoehorn in a tired tagline when one was never needed in the first place. It should’ve tried for something equally simple as the original’s while still being unique and of its own. But hey, what do you expect from a modern remake of one of the best films from the 70s?

STRAW DOGS opens September 16th.

Synopsis: David and Amy Sumner (James Marsden and Kate Bosworth), a Hollywood screenwriter and his actress wife, return to her small hometown in the deep South to prepare the family home for sale after her father’s death. Once there, tensions build in their marriage and old conflicts re-emerge with the locals, including Amy’s ex-boyfriend Charlie (Alexander Skarsgård), leading to a violent confrontation.
