New Public Enemies trailer!

A new trailer for Michael Mann's PUBLIC ENEMIES is online and it's got me just as excited for the film as the original trailer did. But... Someone mentioned to me the look of the film and I didn't notice it at first but now I can't get over the digital look. I know it worked for COLLATERAL but this to me seems like an entirely different production that really could have benefited from using film. It just took me out of the moment a few times. Here's hoping it's not that big an issue in theaters. Check out the new trailer below!

One of the, if not THE ugliest movie in quite some time.

Oh mann... Sure, the movie itself will be great still (since it's Mann)... but come on, Mann. Are you blind? Don't you see it? Don't you care, that digital cinematography (at least the way you shoot it) looks awful?

I just can't really care for a movie as ugly as that. Fortunately there are at least SOME directors in...

You were my favourite director until Collateral. Please... Film with film and the movie would be so much (even) better... :(



Apart from the ugly as hell (digital) images this trailer was way better than the first one though.

The look didn't bother me here as much as the first trailer. And I'm still pretty psyched about this thing.

Yeah the digital look is most obvious in the theater, where it just doesn't look sharp at all. Mann is obsessed with this. It looked pretty bad in MIAMI VICE and it's not doing this flick any favors. (At least in trailer form.)

Everything about it makes me wet my pants with anticipation...but that damn viper camera is seriously distracting. I'll keep an open mind though. It might work for it. It did for Collateral (it didn't for Miami Vice). But I think that Johnny Depp as John Dilinger will definitely be what puts the butts in the seats so it may not matter.

I think it's just the day vs night that makes it look film to digital. I think any low light setting gives away digital, with maybe the exception of Benjamin Button. I just don't get why Mann shot this digitally.

One of my most anticipated of the summer. In Mann we trust. Hopefully this will make up for how disappointing Miami Vice was.



The trailer seemed a little sloppily edited but do I detect use of 25th Hour's score for the last part of the trailer? Haunting music indeed.

Wow. The film looks incredible, which is a relief considering we haven't had a good gangster movie since The Departed. American Gangster was eh.

This is easily my most anticipated flick this year! I'm ridiculously excited for it! I also expect a lot of awards for this, maybe Depp and Bale will finally grab a couple much deserved awards. Bring it on!

"I can't think of a Michael Mann movie that hasn't been good within the past ten or so years." - I can, Miami Vice. But that's my opinion.



Anyway, this seems interesting movie, and I'm curious to see how it turns out. Trailers look good so far.

Looks very good I have to say, it has to be better than Miami Vice, and Bale's accent is flawless as per usual, I think all the speculation will be about Depp as Dillinger but I think Bale as Purvis will be the strongest performance, I love Marion Collitard as well great actress......should be catwomen?
