New R. Hood trailer!

01.04.2010by:

The holidays were a crazy time, so you might have missed this new international trailer for ROBIN HOOD that was released right before Christmas. I hadn't seen it until now, and I have to say it has me pretty excited for the prospect of Scott and Crowe returning to the epic action genre.

Sure, you can’t help but flash back to the GLADIATOR forest battles with Maximus swinging a sword around on horseback, but is that such a bad thing? This may not be a Robin Hood we’ve seen before (my best Robin Hood memories involve a cartoon fox trying to outwit a lion), but it’s one I’m certainly curious about.

Check out the action below, and tell me you're not looking forward to this just a little bit now.

Extra Tidbit: Yeah, I think Sienna Miller would have looked out of place amidst all this grit and grime.

Looks good and I like Russell Crowe But we have seen it all before-kings and their medieval hordes - the seedy looking fighters for freedom etc.etc.

I just don't know about this yet. I'm sure it will be good, but don't see the need. Costners Robin Hood is still good enough for me for now.

Accent

Sounds like Crowe's actually trying to do a proper Nottinghamshire/South Yorkshire accent. Good effort.

Aside from being somewhat mystified by the casting of Oscar Issac as Prince John (though he seems OK from the trailers), I'm pretty darn stoked in general, especially with Mark Strong looking all badass as presumably Guy of Gisburn. Would've liked to see MacFayden's sheriff, because I'm really curious to see him in a menacing role.

The funny thing is there are few truly memorable and just-right incarnations of the Robin Hood story. I'm personally a fan of "Robin and Marian," and Michael

I'm personally a fan of "Robin and Marian," and Michael Praed in "Robin of Sherwood" was probably the best since Errol Flynn. But aside from Alan Rickman and the flaming arrows of "Prince of Thieves" that flick, while enjoyable as a guilty pleasure, isn't a very good movie on whole.

Kingdom of Heaven + Gladiator= Robin Hood

Looks like everything else Scott has made for the past decade, but I'll still see it opening weekend.

the only thing missing

This actually looks pretty good even though I am not a huge fan of Russell Crowe. I'll tell what this movie is missing though, Alan Rickman. He was awesome as the Sheriff of Nottingham. They didn't show enough of the new guy playing the Sheriff for me to make an opinion on him but Alan Rickman is the bomb!!
