Where do you go when you want to film the end of the world without using computer effects? Pittsburgh apparently. Take that, Three River denizens. Apparently your town resembles the aftermath of some sort of nuclear holocaust. Add that to Sienna Miller's "Shittsburgh" comments and you might think that Hollywood has some Steel Town bias. USA Today has a first look today at a still from THE ROAD featuring Viggo Mortensen as the dad taking his son cross-country in a post-apocalyptic society. The film is based on the Pulitzer Prize winning book by Cormac McCarthy and also co-stars Charlize Theron. Check out the still below then head to USA Today to read more about how Pittsburgh is a perfect stand-in for a desolate wasteland.

That's funny you say that smooveluv, because I was born and raised in NH and moved to Pittsburgh for work.
I guess I love areas that resemble waste lands.

There are other choices

I'll buy Philly - but as a someone born and bred in the (un)fair state of Mass., I can tell you that NH would have been a great locale too. Perhaps they scouted NH, and decided it was a little too grim.

Cool I live in Pittsburgh. Maybe I can find where they're filming and hang with good ol' Morty.
I probably shouldn't call him Morty if I see him.
