New Rogue One international trailer reveals tons new footage

11.10.2016

I'd say one of the only disadvantages writing for a film news site is that sometimes you get spoiled of information you'd rather have seen on the big screen yourself. Don't get me wrong, most of the time getting early access is awesome, but there are times where you'd rather just be surprised.

I think that this counts as one of those times. While the international ROGUE ONE trailer mainly follows the beat of the second domestic one, it actually uses a lot of different scenes or alternate takes. But more importantly, it shows off some really cool action beats that I'd rather have seen for myself for the first time opening night. But that's only a (really) small complaint, as the movie is looking more and more awesome with each trailer. See for yourself!

Badass, right? (MINOR SPOILERS!) I mean, did that dude just a shoot a f*cking rocket launcher at an AT-AT? Or a ship trying to escape a planet as the Death Star blows it up!

Not to mention the gorgeous handheld cinematography, or the beautifully subtle score. Hopefully the film itself lives up to its visuals and soundtrack.

The only thing that worries me is, I mean, are crystals somehow connected to the Force now, or...?

Anyway, ROGUE ONE - directed by Gareth Edwards and starring Felicity Jones, Alan Tudyk, Mads Mikkelsen, and Ben Mendelsohn - will sneak into theaters December 16th, 2016

I'm actually looking forward to this more than I was Episode VII. There are a lot of things Iiked about that film, but the one looks like they succeeded in seemlessly tying it into the original film without trying to ape its story structure (my biggest complaint with episode VII), from the trailer at least it also looks like a more mature take on the Star Wars universe.Still looking forward to Episode VIII even more (Rian Johnson!) but this one just keeps keeps moving up higher and higher on my

Crystals are used in the construction of light sabers and I imagine she just has a piece of one she wears much like someone may wear a Cross or Star of David.

Taken from Wiki:

"The crystal is not, by itself, the power source of the weapon. Like the Force user, the crystal is attuned to the Force. Without that attunement, the crystal is just a rock. And while a non-Force user could probably ignite and wield a lightsaber, provided the crystal was properly attuned to the Force, all that

And while a non-Force user could probably ignite and wield a lightsaber, provided the crystal was properly attuned to the Force, all that lightsaber would be for him is a shaft of superheated plasma. But for a Jedi, the lightsaber becomes more: it is a manifestation of a Jedi's connection to the Force."

Not convinced yet. I'm a huge Star Wars fan but there are things that bug me about this film so far ... I hate the references to 'the force' from non Jedi and don't even get me starter on the fucking eyeliner

Not sure if I'd say it looks like a stronger film content wise, but visually, I'm digging Greig Fraser's cinematography more. Gareth Edwards gets great visuals from his DP's, but he seems to not illicit strong performances from his actors with the exception of Cranston in Godzilla.
