New standee art for The Dark Knight Rises has arisen

Thus far we have seen a rather curious dearth of marketing for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, at least in comparison to the viral work other big upcoming movies like PROMETHEUS (see here) and THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (see here) have been doing.  Or even in comparison to the sort of stuff that was done for THE DARK KNIGHT.  But perhaps these new pieces of standee art represent the next phase in the marketing plan for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES.  Let's hope so, anyway.

Check 'em out below and let us know what you think! The depiction of Bane looks a bit hokey to me, intense and gripping (so to speak) though it may be...

Extra Tidbit: I saw definite hints in the trailer that THE DARK KNIGHT RISES really is about something, you know? In the sense that beyond merely closing Nolan's Batman saga there are issues at its heart that truly matter.

I think it's really, really funny how people are complaining about the lack of viral campaign for this film. The whole point of an advertising campaign is to make people aware of the film and get them talking. Well, this may surprise you, but everyone's fucking aware of it. There's no need for a viral campaign this time around.

Tops on my 2012 'To-see' list.

All it needs is a few TV spots, closer to release. Nothing like what TDK had. Prometheus is still my top movie to see with this being the 2nd.

And I'm sure it'll put out some spots. As for 'Prometheus,' I'm excited, but mainly because I think it COULD be good, not that it necessarily will. Ridley Scott hasn't made a good film in a while, and frankly I don't trust Damon Lindelof to write a satisfactory script. Whereas Christopher Nolan, IMO, hasn't made a bad film. Which is why I have TDKR higher on my list. But I'll definitely be there front and center to see Prometheus. Here's to hoping it knocks it out of the park!

Dear God, finally, a voice of reason. If you polled the populace of this website then the Prometheus trailer is the third best film ever made. And every time any tidbit is released there are 200 references to guys jizzing in their pants. It's ridiculous. I have reservations for the same reasons. Lindelof: the ending to LOST was awful. Just awful. Scott: It has been at least 10 years since Scott made a good movie. Blade Runner is one of my favorite films of all time, and I love Alien, but the

Blade Runner is one of my favorite films of all time, and I love Alien, but the guy is not a guaranteed home run hitter. There are a LOT of misses on his resume. It should be good, and could be great, but you can't decide that based on the fucking marketing.

Totally agree. Ridley Scott is always a talented director, but he's fallen into the very bad habit of signing on to crappy scripts. I admit, I liked 'Kingdom of Heaven,' but everything he's done since then (and many would include that film) has been at best mediocre, and at worst it's been 'A Good Year.'

What I find even more troubling is that this was-- at least as far as I know, which is only what is available to anyone-- this was an Alien prequel going into filming. and then once they got into filming it they just decided on the fly to cut out the Alien part of it and make something else. People criticize MIB III because they were writing the script during filming, but how is this any different?

I already have a Scar-Jo Avengers Black Widow life-size standee in my basement. I think I'm going to buy a Anne Hathaway Catwoman. Then, I can pray that I can find on of those "Night At The Museum" stones that bring things to life at night. One can dream...

Even Chris Nolan, who makes cerebral, serious sci fi thrillers largely devoid of gratuitous sex, violence, and profanity...knows everyone wants to see Catwoman's ass.

We need the definitive trailer for this movie instead of more toys.. really.. the last one felt incomplete, the trailer lacked a real sense of epicness and redemption..

Ewww

I have a feeling that Catwoman standee is going to get defiled at my local theater. Good thing they didn't go with a more feline pose...

That is the most "Catwoman" like image I have seen of Anne Hathaway from this film so far.

Let's hope the extra tidbit is correct.

I'm also on the fence about Catwoman holding a gun. Why not give her a whip? Please?

We don't know what the gun does yet.

Catwoman is holding a gun...

Why is that? Should I be worried?

I have to admit, that Catwoman standee isn't half bad. But I'm still not quite feeling her high-tech goggles and the lack of a cowl. Don't kill me, Nolanites... maybe it will grow on me the more I see it.

I'm really craving a new trailer right about now. The trailers so far have been underwhelming to say the least and I'm sure Nolan was holding back (or I hope so).

@halflife

Then you should go watch John Carpenter's Halloween, and look at Michael Myers' William Shatner looking mask.

They look like badly made action figures, not standees! Unless I'm mistaken, arent STandees the things that are put on display in Theaters?

A bit, yeah. I'm guessing it's because his chin is tilted down and we're looking at him head-on. I think if we saw a profile view then he would look more normal (you know, as normal as a grown man dressed in a bat costume can look).

If the early screening and standing ovation is any indictation of how great this film will be, we are in for a HELL of a finish to Nolan and Bale's Dark Caped Crusader.

Extra Tidbit

The only thing this is 'really about', is major disappointment! I am not a fan of the series, but that notwithstanding, there is no way it'll be everyone's expectations.

I might agree with you in most cases but since THE DARK KNIGHT took my expectations and beat them with a baseball bat, I can't in this case.
