New Star Trek spot

Mar. 24, 2009by: Mike Sampson

STAR TREK has a lot of ground to cover before it opens up this May. While it comes with a dedicated audience it also comes with the stigma of being, well, not very cool. So Paramount has come out swinging in an attempt to prove to people that JJ Abrams has made TREK hip again.

They're throwing parties in LA complete with hot chicks painted up like green aliens and they've already started running TV spots during the NCAA tournament. That new commercial is now online and if you haven't seen it, you can check out some of the new footage that is included. I have to say that while I'm the opposite of a "Star Trek" fan, I think I want to see this movie...

Looks Awesome

I saw the trailer for this on the weekend, and It looks fucking awesome!

Neither my wife or I are even fans, but we're both looking forward to this flick.

I have loved Trek for as long as I can remember, Not the original series as much as It was a a bit geekish but still watched it none-the-less but this movie... HOLY FRUIT SAlAD BATMAN... I agree with what has been said about this spot, Still cool but that latest trailer would have to be one of the best I've seen. I took the other half to see Watchmen and the Trek trailer was showing and my wife is now dying to see this and THAT says a lot... So cant wait.

I cant believe the quality of

I cant believe the quality of cinema thats coming out these days, Yeah ok I dont mean the shit like Epic movie and Disaster movie etc but the big budget stuff like this and Terminator Salvation, Transformers and the like. I mean who would have thought that a STAR TREK movie would have people that arent interested in Trek dying to see it... I rest my case.

Fabulous!

Looks fabulous! CGI looks of higher quality and far better than trailers for "Knowing" and "2012".

Boneriffic

I have some serious petrabone for this flick. I think they've done a good job in showcasing the epic/action quality of star trek and not just the sci fi geektasticness that it usually just showcases. Even my gfriend is excited to see this. I always envisioned Star Trek more like this and aside from a few films (voyage home, wrath of kahn, first contact and maybe undiscovered country) a lot of the movies came across as extended tv episodes.

This looks fantastic! Can't wait!

Gotta agree with Zombie and Predator, below, that this commercial, while quite good, simply can't compare to that last trailer...which is one of the best I've ever seen. I, too, get goosebumps while watching it over and over and over...and I'm not even a Trekkie! (Or is it 'Trekker' now?) Maybe Paramount should risk the $ and just run that trailer, as an extended commercial, on TV?

Very nice!

Great TV spot but nothing compared to the final trailer which was so goddamn epic that I get goosebumps every time I watch it. I couldn't be anymore excited to see this.

Not a bad tv spot but nothing new except for as couple new scenes. I am still playing that last trailer over and over. :)
