New stills from Guillermo del Toro’s The Strain, starring Mia Maestro

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Lately we've been seeing a lot of short promos for the upcoming FX series "The Strain", based on the book by PACIFIC RIM's Guillermo del Toro and his co-writer Chuck Hogan. We've been excited for this series, which is set to premiere on Sunday July 13 at 10PM/E on FX, and today we have some new stills to share with you. However…

I'm gonna complain for just a moment. I don't mind a little ambiguity, but it's gotten to the point that I want to scream out "C'mon…show us something more, dammit!". If I wasn't aware of the talent involved on this series then these short promos and the few stills we've had thrown our way wouldn't really sell me on wanting to check it out. I'm ready to see something really kickass from "The Strain" so hopefully we'll be seeing that soon, instead of more 10-second promos that tell and show us absolutely nothing. Or, even worse, these latest stills which, quite frankly, look boring.

But hey…I'm just an impatient dude, admittedly.  I am truly stoked for "The Strain" and will be tuning in whether or not we get some better looks at the series. My excitement gets the better of me because I'm confident it's gonna be one damn awesome show.

His army will rise on Sunday, July 13 at 10 PM ET/PT, so mark your calendars, folks, this is one you’re not going to want to miss!

The Strain is a high-concept thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Stoll), the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers wage war for the fate of humanity itself.

"The Strain" stars Corey Stoll, Mia Maestro, Sean Astin, Roger Cross, Leslie Hope, Regina King, Robert Maillet, Lauren Lee Smith, Miguel Gomez, Kevin Durand, David Bradley, and Richard Sammel.
