New TF2 footage! | Movie News
UPDATE - Looks like Paramount asked that Michael Bay remove the video from his site. The footage is gone along with the article that accompanied it....
Back at ShoWest when Michael Bay was accepting his 2009 Vanguard Award, he debuted a short scene from TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN as well as a quick montage that highlighted some new scenes from the film (including our first decent glimpse at Devastator). Now Bay has done us a solid and put that footage online. Sadly it's not in Quicktime HD so we can't slow it down and take some top-notch screengrabs but still... I give Bay some props for putting this up on his own official site when it could've just as easily never have seen the light of day. Check it out below!

All I have to say is, if TF really did get whored out like TF fans say it was, then at least be happy that their pimp is Michael Bay and not Bret Ratner, or some equivalent hack. At least Bay made it fun. And you can't deny that TF is a whopper amount of fun!
Plus, I'm sure the LOOK of Transformers was done for the best. I can't imagine a faithful transition from the cartoons to silver screen, because they were all made of boxes. If Tformers were real, that's how they would look...like Michael Bay's version.
Anyway, can't wait for this flick!

Yes, indeed this Hollywood makeover of TF is clearly a money-grab as you put it. Just (genuinely) curious though: how do you envision a silver screen version of Transformers that is very faithful to the source? The storylines/plot/myth? I'm not disagreeing with you here, but I'd like to know how the loyalists envisioned or hoped TF would be like on the silver screen, and would that version grab as much money as how Bay's TF would?
Back to reality though, this is Hollywood. Who cares if our childhood gets raped? My childhood has been raped so many time by Hollywood suits, I'd be damned if it didn't spawn a devil-child soon enough.
Of course it's a money grab. It's called showBUSINESS for a reason. And it's also called ENTERTAINMENT for a reason too. So that we just sit back, enjoy the show, no matter how sore our childhood's asses are from it.
Whatever it is, hats off to you as I now know the source of your sorrows. Again, I agree that Bay is a douchebag. But explosions, robots, Megan Fox: Me likey!

If the movie was called 'Michael Bay presents: Big Robot Action' I wouldn't have a problem, but I wanted to see a Transformers movie, not a Michael Bay movie. You see I am a huge Transformers fan and huge fan of the original cartoon and it really bothers me when people talk down on TFs when defending Bay's movie. It's mind boggling, people actually defend this movie that they like by insulting the original source material that it's based on, calling it stupid, silly and just a toy commercial. If you actually feel that way about it than why do watch and like these new movies if the original creation is so bad to begin with? It's the same as saying Batman Forever is good and okay because the Batman comic books were bad anyways. Tell me something that you're a big fan of and lets see how you like it when hollywood rapes it.
Bottom line is that these Bay movies are a money grab, they're using the Transformers name to bring in the ca-ching. The only reason the studios want to get the rights to make TFs movies is because it's a huge franchise and has got millions of fans, and it's got millions of fans because of the cartoon. If TF is so silly and bad then why has it been so popular for 25 years? Why does it have millions of fans? How do you like and support something and at the same time diss the original creation it's based on?
Bay's TFs movies are to the Transformers franchise, as what Schumacher's Batman movies are to the Batman franchise.

Yeah the plot is a little shallow, and yeah it could do with a little more character development, but I reckon a movie like this should be taken for what it is. It's simply a Summer Blockbuster that is made to entertain!!! It's not gonna win any awards (except maybe Special Effects), and it sure as shit ain't gonna beat T4, but MB...

It's not gonna win any awards (except maybe Special Effects), and it sure as shit ain't gonna beat T4, but MB knows how to make a movie that is going to ENTERTAIN, and this looks like another 2 1/2 hours of solid entertainment (NOTE the word ENTERTAINMENT).
The only film he has really let the audience down is PEARL HARBOUR,, but that was because it was a pretentious LOVE STORY that didn't really entertain until PH got blown up!!! Cue 40 mins of special effects and awesomeness!!
So this too will be a movie that is all about the TRANSFORMERS. Screw any AUTOBOT or DECEPTICON development!! The only development that should even be considered is SAM & MIKAELA's!!

Yeah, I admit the first TF had its fair share of hits and misses, the plot was simple, but I entered the theater expecting to see shit blow up and robots fighting. So, my question still stands: "When you heard about 'Transformers' being a live action flick, what were you expecting?" And I mean, really, how did you envision/imagine it? Giant robots coming to earth, bringing the feud from Cybertron, and talking it out diplomatically?

Fun and smart are subjective. Not all have the same idealistic view of what is 'fun' and what is 'smart'. TF was, to me and thousands of others, 'fun'. Smart? Yeah, I'd agree that TF wasn't really 'smart' in most ways, but we're talking about transforming alien robots here.
So really, if you were expecting it to be smart and fun in your own way, sorry to disappoint you, but it obviously isn't working. Fair enough though.
Oh and for movies like the Dark Knight/Batman Begins, they were not really my idea of 'fun' movies conceptually. And they turned out to be just that. Not 'fun', but enjoyable as a drama, noir, crime thriller that we all were expecting.
So really, you can't compare apple to apple. Finally, just take it for what it is, instead of what is isn't. Do your own brand of Transformers, and maybe it'll be better. Who knows!
P.S: Michael Bay IS a self absorbed douchebag though. But as long as his movies are fun and enjoyable (in our very own way of enjoying the movie), I'm cool.
