New The Lego Movie 2 trailer assembles all the awesomeness you can handle

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Who would’ve expected back in late 2013 that the impending LEGO MOVIE would be so good and memorable we would be anxiously awaiting the sequel five years later? I sure didn’t, but here I am, counting the days until I can see the sequel to one of my favorite movies from 2014. We got the first delightful teaser for the new movie a few months ago, and now as we are only a few months out from THE LEGO MOVIE: THE SECOND PART Warner Bros. has assembled the new, full trailer filled with plenty of pop-culture icons (in brick form) and an abundance of awesomeness.

The sequel finds our beloved brick buddies existing in a post-apocalyptic hellscape after the tragic events of Taco Tuesday, wherein the Lego world was invaded by horrific DUPLO blocks. After the savagery ended, the surviving bricks are now trying to – ahem – rebuild, but an alien encounter throws everything into chaos as Emmet (Chris Pratt) must save the day. It looks just as entertaining as the first, with directors Mike Mitchell taking over for Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (who wrote the script and are producing). Along with Pratt, the voice cast includes Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Tiffany Haddish, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie, Charlie Day, Stephanie Beatriz, Channing Tatum, Arturo Castro and more.

Here's the synopsis:

The much-anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed, global box office phenomenon that started it all, “The LEGO® Movie 2: The Second Part” reunites the heroes of Bricksburg in an all new action-packed adventure to save their beloved city. It’s been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens are now facing a huge new threat: LEGO DUPLO® invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than it can be rebuilt.

The battle to defeat the invaders and restore harmony to the LEGO universe will take Emmet, Lucy, Batman and their friends to faraway, unexplored worlds, including a strange galaxy where everything is a musical. It will test their courage, creativity and Master Building skills, and reveal just how special they really are.
