New trailer for Christopher Nolan's Interstellar!

1 year agoby:

Back when the official poster was released, word on the cinema street was that a new trailer for INTERSTELLAR would coincide with the release of the mighty GODZILLA. If you're not up for checking out the monster in action (you can check out our review here), the internet Gods have bestowed upon us the trailer for Christopher Nolan's latest. The previous teasers relegated us to seeing Matthew McConaughey looking pretty sad about something (we now know why), and was more interested in establishing a tone than revealing story details. How does this trailer fare?

Take a look:

Christopher Nolan is very reminiscent of Steven Spielberg for me, in that he makes "event films". That is to say, they make the kind of films that were meant to be experienced in theaters. That's applied to THE DARK KNIGHT and INCEPTION, and from the looks of it, INTERSTELLAR. Only thing left to do now is play the waiting game.

INTERSTELLAR, starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Wes Bentley, Topher Grace, Casey Affleck, and Michael Caine will be released on November 7, 2014.

This looks so

bleak and crazy. I hope for a sad ending in which Matthew McConaughey's character doesn't make it and the world dies. I do hope for an ending like that. I'm sick of happy endings. Also like to say it sucks they are showing this to us now its like a 10000 years away from now :((((

Trailer is too long. I guess the days when trailers were 30s-1m are over. From what I saw, it looks like a slow movie. I'll still watch it because of my love for sci fi. But I'm not seeing why this movie looks so fantastic to everyone else.

The trailer starts off a bit too fast for my taste, but by the time it ended I had chills. The trailer felt more studios produced but it still got me interested. I'm a big space/rocket buff so I will definitely be there opening day.

Looks amazing

That shit looks awesome, what are some people here bitching about? Nolan has always delivered the eye candy and he never gives it away in his trailers, that's one of the best things about him. On top of that they're calling this his most ambitious project yet, and mind you this motherfucker made Inception. I hope he shows us nothing else and blows everyone away.

It looks like Nolan is stepping up the emotional angle too, I can't wait. Hyping this to be the movie of the year.

I'm hoping this will be hard Sci-Fi, like Moon, and not have guns/explosions etc. because there are plenty of those..

wow

I've always enjoyed Nolan's non-Batman films more, I don't mean that in a snotty way, i just mean that when he can make an original concept with an unlimited budget the result have been flooring emotionally and viscerally. I look forward to this flick with eager anticipation. btw wheres that track in trailer from? i recognise it from another flick but can't place it.

another masterpiece

I'm calling it now. Jessica Chastain plays his adult daughter. When he returns from the wormhole, she's an adult. or she's an adult and lots of time passes on earth, maybe her dad never returns to it, or goes to an alternate reality earth where she's a grown up. Looks like she was wearing his jacket at the 1:41 mark.

My most anticipated film of 2014

The shot of the spacecraft entering the wormhole and cutting to black made my imagination run free. I think that's what Nolan wants us to feel. A sense of wonder, to question what's out there among the far reaches of the stars, and even though we might never know, it never hurts to wonder. I can't wait to see what Nolan has created on the other side of the wormhole. I'm there Day 1 in IMAX.

No wonder there`s a food shortage ,he drove his truck through most of the corn fields at the start.Plus they can Interstellar travel but they can`t do Animal Cloning for meat or Food cloning like corn which we can already do.Hopefully Nolan we give a reason why this isn`t possible in this movies reality.Plus i`m getting the vibe Matthew Mcconaughey will die in this movie with all that "I`m coming home "Dialogue. One heroic sacrifice coming up.

What I love about Nolan's movie trailers. They remain unpredictable. They excite us by not over showing too much

What I love about Nolan's movie trailers. They give you the plot, the characters, the conflict, they grab your attention, and yet they don't over do it with shots that can easily spoil the film. I can never read the order of Nolan's films in the trailer. It's usually easy to predict what the final showdown scene will be in trailers or which side people or on, not the case with most of Nolan's trailers.

Intriguing...

I think this shows what will be the bulk of the first act of the movie, setting up the conflict and the action that starts the journey. What happens next will be the real meat! Solid teaser.

Nolan's always been criticized ...

For lack of heart in his films. Seems like he's fighting back, and people are complaining. Jeez. I'm pumped for this. Leave the explosions to Michael bay.

I'm glad they're not really giving anything away here. I'm trying to be more mindful when it comes to watching trailers for upcoming films I'm looking forward to because they tend to give you the entire plot of the movie condensed into 3 minutes. There's no element of surprise anymore unless you can control your urge to watch too many previews and clips. I couldn't resist here, but again, this trailer plays its cards close to its chest. Nolan's good about that stuff.

This looks like a sequel to Contact. Is it going to be two acts of talking about going to space, and one quick act of them actually doing it? Cause that's the impression that this trailer gives, and I'm not too excited so far.

Looks ok

I am a Nolan fan but that trailer was very bland. I think this might be a movie that is going to have the bests parts not shown in the trailer. The story is probably very complex and hard to sum up in two and half minutes. Who else thinks Affleck and Chastain are the two kids grown up after he travels through some time passage?

It's actually not Zimmer's score, it's 'Evey Reborn" from the V for Vendetta soundtrack, the trailer is meant to act as a tease for what's to come--not a full spoiler of the entire movie. And I'm more than sure Nolan will focus more on space than what's happening on Earth.

Looks promising...

Its got beautiful cinematography and music... I'm just not sold on the "good father doing it for his kids" stereotype. I just hope it won't fall into the cheesy War of the Worlds/World War Z clichés. I liked Inception for its interesting concept, but I loathed the whole subplot of the death of his wife hunting his tortured soul... especially considering it came out so close to Shutter Island which had the exact same backstory with the same actor delivering the exact same performance. Anyways,

Trailer really shows nothing but boredom and Nolan already got way too much of that out of me with Inception. I like the concept of this but have that strong feeling it will be 2 1/2 hrs of trying to keep my eyes open. Will have to wait to see more on this.

I'm not totally sold on the idea of us having interstellar travel when we've barely even left our own orbit, but if it's alien-made and just waiting for us then I can buy it.
Kind of like the gates in the Mass Effect universe.

@ElderPredator: the discovery of a STABLE wormhole that actually takes us somewhere non-random would be all the proof I would need for alien design. Gonna have to watch this one closely, because at this stage in our technological development if something happened (asteroid/comet collision, ecological catastrophe that the film strongly hints at, etc.) we would be royally fucked. Still, I expect relatively total scientific plausibility from a director like Nolan.
Before anyone says anything
