Update: New Interstellar poster hits; trailer to debut in front of Godzilla

Update: Paramount has released the official poster, which you will find below for your viewing pleasure.

It's been 5 months since we caught a glimpse of Christopher Nolan's latest cinematic endeavor, and the good news is that it'll be less than two weeks until we get to see a little more.  The next trailer for INTERSTELLAR is set to screen before Gareth Edwards' GODZILLA, on May 16h.  We even have a description of the trailer in case you want to know what's in store.

As the Washington Post reports:

After a brief announcement, the trailer unspooled to show Matthew McConaughey driving his truck through corn fields while a lush orchestral score swelled in the background. Later, the fields had caught fire, an ominous dust cloud could be seen looming over a baseball game, and McConaughey (playing a character named Cooper) was reassuring his daughter that he loved her — right before being shot into space in order to save the world.

From the sound of it, this new trailer falls in line with the original teaser, in that we hear mostly music and dialogue and are given limited (but lasting) imagery. Sounds great to me. It's not too often these days we get to go into a movie blind, and while there will be more reveals before its November 7th release date, I enjoy a marketing campaign that keeps its cards close to its chest without being too gimmicky (lookin' at you STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS).  Regardless, all will be revealed this fall when we see what kind of space travel Nolan has in store for us, and how exactly that will save mankind.

Christopher Nolan's INTERSTELLAR, starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Wes Bentley, Topher Grace, Casey Affleck, and Michael Caine will be released on November 7, 2014.

I'm really digging the poster.  Very CLOSE ENCOUNTERS feel, no?
