New trailer for Walking With Dinosaurs looks like a perfectly harmless dino adventure

Sep. 26, 2013by: Paul Shirey

"That was awesome!"

Probably not the reaction everyone will have, but that's what my 4-year old said when he saw this. For the older, cynical crowd it may be the opposite, but let's face it, we're not the dyed-in-the-wool demographic for WALKING WITH DINOSAURS. That said, it's dinosaurs, man! Okay, so they talk and the "moving the herd" story is tiresome as hell, but really it's just a perfectly harmless dino jaunt, complete with some pretty solid looking CGI animation. Did I already say dinosaurs?

Take a look:

Here's the synopsis:

For the first time in movie history, audiences will truly see and feel what it was like when dinosaurs ruled the Earth. "Walking with Dinosaurs" is the ultimate immersive experience, utilizing state of the art 3D to put audiences in the middle of a thrilling and epic prehistoric world, where an underdog dino triumphs to become a hero for the ages

There's something mezmerizing about these prehistoric beasts that we keep coming back to and it's nice to see that there's an effort being made to keep them in our minds. Be it Jurassic Park or TV shows like Primeval New World or the Dinosaurs! TV show (kidding), it's cool to see these ancient monsters brought to life on the big screen. Plus, it's way more tolerable than sitting through SMURFS 2 when you have youngsters.

WALKING WITH DINOSAURS stomps into theaters on December 20, 2013.

I guess I should probably see this on true imax 3d format. That way the scale will be a little more accurate when it comes to some of the dinosaurs.

OK, the special effects look great, but why the hell can we not see them talking?...We hear them talking and see their mouth's move, but it just looks like they're opening their mouths with no movement.

I loved the TV series a whole lot as a kid. Also, if you ever get the chance to, you've gotta catch the live arena show: it's giant, life-sized animatronic dinosaurs moving around a stadium and interacting with each other and an actor, and it was such a joy to behod. However, with this movie, I wonder if it's a good decision to go with a more story-driven take, as the "natural history program" aspect of the documentary series (narrated by Kenneth Branagh!) was a big part of what made it

It does have shades of Disney's dinosaur, but I guarantee you that I'll be in the theatre holding on to a dino action figure lapping this up.

I'm a grown ass man

This movie looks amazing, being on this site it seems like you know about every upcoming movie a year(s) before it's released. It's nice when something you knew nothing about coming out soon impresses you.
