Strike Back below!
by: Mike Sampson Oct. 21, 2009

The first WOLFMAN trailer hit the web the same day Fox released the AVATAR trailer. It was a risky move by Universal but hey, this is risky business. As it turns out, the gambit paid off. While snarky fanboys were busy scoffing at AVATAR, the WOLFMAN trailer emerged as the favorite.

Flash forward a few months later and what do we have here? It's a brand new WOLFMAN trailer! It'll be in theaters this Friday with CIRQUE DU FREAK but you can check it out now in HD. While I truly enjoyed the first trailer, I'm really really digging this new trailer, which ramps up the action a little bit. Below are a bunch of screencaps and you can click on any one to head to Apple and watch this trailer bark at the moon. Hark! Is that a howling I hear? Owww-owww-oOoooOoOOOOwwwWWW!!!

The imagery is beautiful, but the trailer itself is very awkward.

I'm not too hyped for this film, it looks to be another overly produced POS. Switching directors in the middle of production should be a VERY strong sign of bad things to come.

The Mummy remake, although far wackier, was more exciting and interesting than what these Wolfman trailers are depicting. And I don't biasedly favor dumb action movies either, because I really like Robert DeNiro's Frankenstein. Wolfman looks like it falls somewhere in between in terms of seriousness, and it's just not working for me.

The music...
blew me away. Reminded me of another trailer that gave boners all around and underwhelmed when it released...300. But I do have more hope for this. Haven't seen a Benicio Del Toro flick that I have not liked yet....

Sorry but
I'm not sold on this yet. Am I the only one that sees bad things coming from all this CGI?? The movie just has a weird feeling to it like it's definitely not Oscar worthy but it's not shitty looking either. It's weird. We'll see.

Even mediocre directors occasionally have a good film and I think this could definitely be Johnsons. I think this film looks fantastic and I'm extremely excited for it, much more excited than for Avator to be honest. I think this looks to be one of the best updates of the Universal Monsters...atleast it cant be as bad as Van Helsing.

Seriously? Johnson is a very mediocre director, and nothing he does excites me. The CGI looks like crap. Sucks that they gave Baker the middle finger and used CGI.

Also, Avatar Teaser >>> Wolfman Trailer.

The Wolf Man has always been my favourite Universal monster and I'm all for a modern-day remake. Everything about this trailer looks beautiful - even the CGI has improved since the teaser. The only negative in that trailer is the use of that inappropriate and shitty pop/rock track.

This was pretty poorly edited to very unfitting music.

Honestly, I lost interest when Mark Romanek was replaced by Joe Johnston during production. That usually always spells disaster.

I hope this is good, but the more I see the less excited I get. The teaser was alright, and this trailer makes the movie look like a mess.

This looks fantastic and top notch all the way around.

I'm glad to see werewolves also steering away from those horrible "underworld" versions that have been dominating the horror market.

Looks pretty cool, but what the hell was with that gawdawful music? This isn't Max Payne 2. Or at least I hope it isn't.

Am I The Only One...
that was not excited for "Avatar" until the trailer premeired? It blew my mind. On that same day, I also say the very disappointing and, for me, stupid, first trailer for "The Wolfman". It was boring and goofy. This one was no different. I love this cast, but this looks like crap. Joe Johnston, I love "The Rocketeer", what happened?

I do not see anywhere in the article where Avatar is being trashed.

I agree man, ever since JoBlo posted that article where they threatened to ban anyone who insulted their writers, their writers have been rolling around insulting movie properties, actors and directors like nobody's business. Personally I think it stinks of too much "dish it out but can't take it".

2 for 2 in awesome trailers. And since Miquel mentioned the abortion that was Avatar, I'll hold off for now.

Shakira would dig this
Great trailer again! After that Avatar trailer fiasco (at least for me), the first Wolfman showed what an awesome trailer is all about. And the second is also the same. Digging the looks, digging the girl, digging the actors, but not the release date... really? February? It's as if Universal is trying to loose money. They should release in a more fitting time of year: Halloween, christmas time...

Digging the looks, digging the girl, digging the actors, but not the release date... really? February? It's as if Universal is trying to loose money. They should release in a more fitting time of year: Halloween, christmas time or in the summer. The second month of the year is a bad choice.
