UPDATE - The clip has been removed by request of Fox who assures us a legit, hi-res version of that same clip will be made available very soon...

The Los Angeles Film Festival is going on as we speak and this weekend THE X-FILES: I WANT TO BELIEVE was there as part of the ceremonies. No, no silly, it wasn't there to be screened, which is what 99% of other movies do. No, THE X-FILES is so super duper top-secret, they would only show a few minutes of the movie and then trot out the cast and crew for a little chat with the audience. One curious attendee asked why awareness is running so drastically low. Producer and co-writer Frank Spotnitz said Fox "assured us that by July 25 everyone will know about this movie." That's a lot of ground to make up in about a month, eh? I'm all for keeping some things hush-hush but isn't this borderline ridiculous? Well, allow me to help. Below is an extended clip from the film shown at the Festival. It's not the best quality, as you'd imagine, but it gives off a good sense of old school, X-FILES WTFness. OK so now we just have to get the rest of the world excited about this X-FILES movie...

I'm hoping this'll be better than the last half of the show's run (that is, everything post-'Fight the Future'...or, post-Vancouver) was.

Seriously, Fox never gets it right, do they? They either prematurely scuttle a show (Firefly, Keen Eddie, Brimstone, Wonderfalls, Brisco County, et al.), or they just beat it into the @#$%ing ground (The X-Files, The Simpsons, et al.).

Anyway, I'm glad this is a standalone adventure; making the first movie just a bridge between the show's 5th and 6th

And, as for the advertising of this movie? Oi, Fox, you can't just sneak a movie into the theaters and expect people to show up...you have to actually, y'know, tell someone about it.

I like the intercutting, and the Vancouver feel/mood is definitely intact. Now if we could just get some effin' Mulder and Scully scenes...
