New X-Men: Apocalypse concept art showcases Magneto’s increased abilities

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

We've witnessed Magneto (Michael Fassbender) displaying his ability to some very impressive results in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS and X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, but according to X-MEN: APOCALYPSE director Bryan Singer, we haven't seen anything yet. The upcoming X-Men film will see Magneto falling in with the ancient mutant Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) which comes with certain perks; Apocalypse can imbue other mutants with greater powers, and Entertainment Weekly recently debuted a piece of concept art which showcases Magneto's Apocalypse assisted powers.

It's unclear if the scene above will turn up in X-MEN: APOCALYPSE, but director Bryan Singer told EW that we'll see examples of Magneto's even more powerful abilities in the film, saying "Magneto is demonstrating a small taste of what he can do now. Magneto is already enormously powerful…. Now Apocalypse gives him powers far beyond what we’ve seen before." Given that the last X-Men film featured Magneto lifting and transporting an entire stadium, Singer must have something pretty big in store for X-MEN: APOCALYPSE.

A synopsis for X-MEN: APOCALYPSE:

Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel's X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE opens in theaters on May 27, 2016.
