New X-Men: DOFP images featuring Quicksilver and more; final trailer coming

EW has a few new images from Bryan Singer's X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, including one of Evan Peters' Quicksilver in action. Fan reaction to Quicksilver's look in the upcoming film has been mixed to say the least, but I think many will be less annoyed with the character's design by the time X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST hits theaters.

Take a look:

EW also spoke with producer/writer Simon Kinberg, who revealed a few details on Quicksilver.

“The way we conceived him is a sort of an ADD kid. Everything he does is just popping and zipping around. He doesn’t take anything seriously. He’s not in a situation for more than a few seconds. So it infused the movie with an energy that was really useful for us.”

Kinberg goes on to say Quicksilver appears in the movie because Wolverine and 70's era Charles Xavier need his help breaking Michael Fassbender's Magneto out of prison.

"That is the bulk of Quicksilver’s presence in this film. They need somebody who can help them get in and out of somewhere. And the idea is that Logan knew him in the future and so they go to try to find his younger self.”

In the comics Quicksilver is Magneto’s son, and Simon Kinberg says, "there may be an allusion to it in the movie, but it’s not something we fully explore yet." Kinberg also commented on how we'll be seeing two versions of Quicksilver on the big screen in the near future, with Aaron Taylor-Johnson playing the character for Joss Whedon in THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON.

“After we made that decision [to use the character], we heard that Joss wanted to use Quicksilver for Avengers. I think it’s kind of cool that Quicksilver is gonna be in two movies, and it will be cool to see different versions of him.”

We also now know when to expect the final trailer for X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. X-Men Movies recently tweeted the new trailer will be released on April 15th.

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST will open on May 23rd, 2014.
