Night Film adaptation finds a writer

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

It was announced back in April that RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES director, Rupert Wyatt, would be directing the upcoming adaptation of NIGHT FILM, the Marisha Pessl noir novel. At the time however, it was unknown as to who would tackle the script. Well, today we've got good news for those of you who are looking forward to the dark thriller as Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has been tapped to adapt the popular novel to the big screen. Aguirre-Sacasa is a pretty solid choice because he's been working in all sorts of genres and mediums over the years with titles ranging from "Glee" to the remake of CARRIE and THE TOWN THAT DREADED SUNDOWN. Here's how the story goes:

In NIGHT FILM, a journalist investigates the suspected suicide of a young beauty, and discovers she is the daughter of a reclusive horror film helmer and that the girl was murdered and someone is bent on revenge.

Wyatt is reteaming with Chernin Entertainment, who produced RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES as well as the Tom Cruise-starring OBLIVION, for the picture. That's all we know for now but with a director and now a writer locked up, expect to hear more soon!
