If you're like me and not at WonderCon this weekend, fear not. We're bringing you the best of the fest in your living room. Earlier today it was five WonderCon exclusive posters for THE IMMORTALS and now, we've got a biggie: a high-def look at the new GREEN LANTERN footage!
There's a ton of new stuff in this four-minute clip and after watching it, I have to give credit to Warner Bros. This is by far the geekiest superhero movie ever made and it'll either pay off in spades or struggle to find an audience. I personally love that they embraced this aspect of Green Lantern and didn't try to hid the world of the Corps. I'm not 100% in love with the film yet (the CGI suit still seems very strange to me) but I love a lot of what I see here.
The FX work they did on Parallax is amazing as is the creature design on Tomar-Re and Kilowog (you even get to hear Geoffrey Rush as Tomar-Re in this cilp). Those looking for Blake Lively will be disappointed as she only gets one brief glimpse.

Green Mini-Gun FTW
The action looks well-choreographed, as I'd expect from a Martin Campbell action movie.
And as for the comedic elements...thats okay. Hal Jordan can be funny. Not as funny as Flash or even Green Arrow, but a certain cocky, dry humor I'd expect of any hotshot fighter pilot. Think Dennis Quaid in The Right Stuff.

The CGI looks OK I guess, even though there's way too much of it (but how else could they make a Green Lantern movie?) It at least is creating a world that I can fully believe and the CGI keeps that consistent.. so I like it.
And I'm still not buying the mask.. his eyes look like cartoons when the mask is up. It's awful.
Fun footage though.. I was 50/50 but now I'm sold. I'll be buying a ticket for this

- and Geoffrey Rush's vioce definitly helps to bring that character to life. without it, it wouldnt be 1/2 as alive as it feels now. i hope that the other actors that they have picked do as good of a job. if they do, then it'll help make this movie go from 'ok' to great. i might just go see this in theaters now.

HOWEVER, if i ignore the label of Green Lantern i really think this could be a great summer popcorn flick. The characters look great and yeah Reynolds was right about it being a welcome space epic.
