There's not a ton of details with this news but it's definitely something to look forward to.

Media Rights Capital has recently obtained a "top secret script" from Chris Cantwell & Chris Rogers based on an idea from Joseph Kosinski. You may not be familiar with the scribes but you will soon be familiar with their work. The writing duo recently sold their series HALT & CATCH FIRE to AMC. The series set in the 1980s is a drama centering on, "the personal computing boom through the eyes of a visionary, an engineer and a prodigy whose innovations directly confront the corporate behemoths of the time. Their personal and professional partnership will be challenged by greed and ego while charting the changing culture in Texas' Silicon Prairie." Lee Pace and Scott McNairy will star.

As for the mysterious film project, OBLIVION and TRON: LEGACY's Kosinski will serve as director on the grounded action thriller.

I know many of you really enjoyed OBLIVION. I'm wondering if this will be another starring vehicle for Tom Cruise. Or would you guys rather see someone else? Perhaps a plot would assist us in our decision.

Loved Oblivion. It's one of my favorites of the year. Would love to see Cruise reteam again for another Sci-Fi adventure with this guy.

Wasn't this guy suppose to be directing the new Twilight Zone movie?

I was under the impression he was attached and he was making it a more streamlined action thriller. Could this be just smoke to hide what the project really is?

Kosinki has talent, and the premise does sound like it has potential. I'd definitely like to see what he does with a real-world setting.

Oblivion is visually one of the most captivating films I have ever seen. The effects were the most realistic I think I've ever seen in a film

1. TV show sounds like it could be really good

2. This guy shouldn't be directing movies anymore. He should be an A.D. or some sort of consultant to help make good directors make their films look awesome with his awesome creative skills and vision that way. Or be a producer, come up with the idea, get writers like you've done, and hand pick the director, but he doesn't need to actually direct anymore

Oblivion was a solid sci-fi outing, with great visuals & audio (M83!), but the script was a pastiche of so many better films that it wasn't more than a 7/10 for me. Similar problem with Tron: Legacy - sublime visuals and audio (Daft Punk!), with an average script. Still excited for what Kosinski does next though - both films weren't perfect but were absolutely watchable.

Mysterious Action Thriller?

This movie will be a visual work of art that lacks emotional depth or a story of substance.

There. Mystery solved.

Everyone knows I'm joking, right? I haven't seen Oblivion, though I did find Tron: Legacy superficial.

Looking forward to it

Up until the wave of amazing pictures (Gravity, Rush, and Captain Phillips) Oblivion was in the top three of the year. It had amazing cinematography but now that Gravity is out, it doesn't stand a chance of winning it.
