Strike Back below!
by: Daniel Barna Jun. 15, 2009

Tony Jaa is the man. I remember seeing the original ONG BAK as a journalist for my university newspaper years ago, then getting drunk and screwing the entire cast of the student production of FAME. The ENTIRE cast. Wicked movies and wicked sex. Those were the days. Anyways, Tony Jaa and his brutal brand of Muay Thai are back with ONG BAK 2, which isn't a straight sequel to the original film, because this one is set in ancient Thailand. Is it a prequel then? Whatever it is, it's set the Thai box office ablaze and is sure to make some waves here too. Check out the official website that just went online featuring a pretty badass poster of Jaa doing his thang. Ong gets Baked in the US this October.

Yeah...it didn't hold a candle to the first one. Not even as good as the Protector.

The...
first one was OK (awesome stunts, but the rest...). Ong Bak 2 is not a sequel, not a prequel either, but it has much better fight choreography, direction, photography and script than the first one. And the end is simply breathtaking (even though most people just didn't get it).

Nice. Waiting for an "official" stateside release. Here's hoping it is released under the Dragon Dynasty label, 2 Disc Ultimate Edition. Love those real world Tony Jaa demonstrations.

I know many consider The Protector to be Ong Bak 2, and if you do then you're wrong. Just IMDB it and see for yourself.

Yikes, a third one? As if the first 2 weren't bad enough.

ONG BAK 2 has been released in other countries (legally and illegally) but it won't officially come to North America until later this year. Magnolia/Magnet is handling distribution for that, and just launched the website for it. That is what this article refers to.

some amazing crazy weapons
One of the most unusual medieval asian films I've seen, mad hyperkinetic action, very very cool. The story and characters don't really have much to say, but it doesn't even matter. Yeah this film showed up ages ago down here in the southern pirate dvd lands.
